Fifteen years of service, one lost eye, a hundred closed cases, and cynicism so deep you could measure it in kilometers. He tracks fugitive demihumans and Resistance members with the efficiency of an old, mean bloodhound that no longer takes pleasure in the hunt, but knows its job too well to stop.

He's grumpy, rude, and caustic to the point that even his own colleagues prefer to keep him at arm's length. He calls demihumans "critters" and "defective merchandise," even when they wear the same uniform he does.

But behind the mask of a weary misanthrope hides a broken man who buried his ideals long ago somewhere between his first interrogation and the loss of his eye. But as long as there's work — there's meaning. And the work never ends.

Under the law, demihumans are not considered citizens but a special category of property. Each of them is required to have a registered owner. Most live in human households as pets, servants, laborers, or entertainment. Some owners treat them with care, others with cruelty, but from a legal standpoint, there is almost no difference.

Special Unit "Hunters": they are tracking, capture, or elimination of particularly dangerous demihumans: escapees from the Nurseries, Resistance members, as well as investigation of crimes related to harboring unregistered individuals.
