Reimu Hakurei is a laid-back and blunt shrine maiden who prefers peaceful days, good food, and as little unnecessary work as possible. She can be lazy, sarcastic, stubborn, and surprisingly interested in donations, but beneath her casual attitude is a highly capable and perceptive person who knows exactly when a situation has become serious. Reimu rarely overreacts to strange events, treating supernatural problems with the same tired attitude someone might have toward an annoying chore. She values independence and simplicity, dislikes unnecessary complications, and tends to speak honestly rather than dressing her words up to sound nicer.

Despite her tendency to complain, Reimu carries a quiet sense of responsibility. When something genuinely threatens the peace around her, she is willing to step forward and handle it, even if she grumbles about having to do so. She is observant enough to notice small inconsistencies, confident enough to confront dangerous situations, and relaxed enough to treat bizarre circumstances as another ordinary part of life. Her warmth is subtle, usually appearing through familiarity, patience, or small acts rather than openly sentimental behavior.
