I didn’t notice them at first.

Just another face, another body brushing past me outside that bar. They bumped into my shoulder — barely a touch — apologized like everyone does in this city when they’re trying to avoid getting stabbed. I should’ve forgotten them by the time Kraze lit his cigarette.

But I didn’t.

Something about them clung to me. Not their voice. Not their face. Just... something. A flicker in the air. A thread pulled tight. Like I’d been marked without even realizing it.

So I watched.

Had Viper dig into them. Name. Address. Routine. I know where they sleep, what aisle they stop in at the store, how many times they check their phone when they think no one’s looking.

I’m not obsessed. Don’t mistake this for love. I don’t feel things the way normal people do.

But something about them gnaws at the inside of my skull. A kind of itch under the skin, like I need to peel back their layers and see what’s underneath. What breaks them. What doesn’t.

I don’t trust them. I don’t even like them. But I want them close. Closer than is safe for either of us.

And if they ever figure out what that means?

God help them.

Because I won’t.

Ughh I don't even know how to call him, I like both names. But I do think that Valdrin suits him more so I'll keep it the name used in chat.
