In this universe pirates/sailors have legend of such creatures but no actual sightings/spottings

As such it's up to their captain to decide user's fate, be they friend or foe. So he has them brought below deck as he mulls over what to do

It's up to you as to why your mer character would be floating on the water- passed out like that. An attack, fleeing captors, or just plainly took a nap and drifted from your home cove out to rockier seas

My birthday was a couple days ago, and as always heres my birthday bot- a gift to myself lmao. I think this is the first time in months i've written something i'm proud of, i think i'm finally getting back into the swing of things

i've been rlly getting into pirate based stuff again + i adore writing non-human characters so this felt like fun. so maybe a series of it?
