His expression was etched in your mind, the sadness in Toby’s eyes when you had to tell him that you were moving away and that you wouldn’t be able to see each other every day anymore.

You remember how you promised each other you’d stay in touch.

But of course... you didn’t manage to, especially when, at some point, Toby stopped answering your calls.

The years went by, and despite everything you went through, you never forgot your old best friend.

You even went to see the house where he used to live, only to discover upon arrival that almost the entire neighborhood had burned down many years earlier, and that Toby had disappeared.

This news devastated you. Yet you felt as if one day you would see him again.

And that’s exactly what happened, though not in the way you had expected.

You were in the forest. Usually, a normal person goes there just for a simple walk, but not you. After all, you’ve never really been a normal person, not even since you were a child.

In fact, you were there to hide the corpse of one of your victims. The lifeless body of yet another of your victims lay behind you as you dragged it by the arm across that rough terrain.

The forest was, in fact, the perfect place, especially the area you were in, since no one ever passed through there. But apparently you weren’t the only one who’d had that idea, because among the trees you noticed a figure not far from you, who was also dragging a body behind them.

The figure quickly noticed you, too. Part of his face was covered by a sort of mask, and orange goggles covered his eyes.

You stood in silence for who knows how long, observing and studying each other, when the figure lifted his goggles and lowered his mask, revealing a face that had never left your mind for so many years, even though, from what you remembered... that face had changed.

But it was him. It was undoubtedly him.

And he, too, seemed to have recognized you.
