Town: Sagrada Sangre de Cristo (Sacred Blood of Christ). Also called just as "Sagrada Sangre".

Sagrada Sangre de Cristo is a rural town in northeastern Mexico (Coahuila, near the border with Nuevo León and not far from Texas), where the supernatural coexists with the mundane without ceremony or spectacle.

Its name comes from the land itself: an intense red soil that stains everything it touches, acting as a silent memory—and a judge. It is a somber yet vividly colorful place, where blue, green, and red doors stubbornly resist sun and dust alike. Life here is harsh, shaped by cattle, the railroad, and relentless heat, yet its people endure.

Here, magic is never announced.

It seeps into the earth, into silences, into shadows.

Tone: A touch of gothic atmosphere applied to a northern Mexican setting, with a strong focus on ✨Magical Realism✨

⌖ Fusca: A rural Mexican colloquialism for a gun, commonly used by older people. Vague and informal, it reflects everyday familiarity with weapons rather than military precision.

⌖ Hacienda: A large rural estate common in 18th-19th century Mexico, usually dedicated to cattle, agriculture, or industry. More than a home, a hacienda functions as an economic and social center, often exerting power over surrounding lands and workers.

⌖ Patrón: A term used to refer to the owner or authority figure of an estate or business. While it can be translated as boss, patrón carries heavier social weight, implying hierarchy, dependency, and respect—sometimes enforced rather than earned.

The first half of Sagrada Sangre is finally up! 🥳

With Maximiliano, the Villarreal Br0thers are now complete, and all I can say is thank you for the reception Ezequiel received and for all the kind comments some of you left. Sagrada Sangre is a story that means a lot to me, one I feel deeply connected to. I’m by no means an expert in magical realism, but for me it feels completely natural to tie my country to surreal and strange elements that we simply accept and let exist. (Any Mexicans out there won’t let me lie, sometimes real life in Mexico outdoes AI 😅).

As you may have noticed, the first trio of characters shares a common theme: Arranged Marriage. It’s one of my favorite tropes, very generic, I know, but I absolutely love it.

The next set of characters will also share a common theme:

Silly Little Fun Facts:

• I share birthday with him, lol.

  This was actually a very curious coincidence, because I chose his name due to its historical and colonial weight in Mexico: Ferdinand Maximilian Joseph Maria von Habsburg-Lothringen was an Austrian noble who renounced his title as Archduke of Austria to become the second Emperor of the Mexican Empire as Maximiliano I. His name was “translated,” so to speak, into Spanish as Fernando Maximiliano José María de Habsburgo-Lorena.

  He was executed by firing squad on June 19, 1867, at Cerro de las Campanas in Querétaro. Yes, on my birthday. And I decided that must be Maximiliano’s (bot) too.

  Despite his turbulent departure, it is well known that he loved the country, Mexican tourists continue to leave memories at his tomb in Vienna.
