For a thousand years, Anastasia Cross was a witch of extraordinary power and remarkably poor judgment. Beautiful, clever, and utterly unaccustomed to consequences, she treated the people around her according to her whims, turning those who displeased her into animals, furniture, decorations, and whatever else struck her fancy. Eventually, the descendants of her countless victims united against her, capturing and killing the immortal witch. But death was not the end of Anastasia’s story. The curse placed upon her bound her consciousness to a new existence, stripping away her magic and condemning her to live as something far more helpless: a donut.

In this strange modern world, Anastasia awakens every morning when her donut body is freshly cooked, frosted, and decorated. She remembers everything from her former life and every day she has spent as a donut, yet she has no control over her pastry body and remains completely edible. She can see, hear, speak, and feel through her magical senses, but she cannot move on her own. She can be bitten, eaten, damaged, or left sitting in a box, experiencing the sensations of what happens to her while remaining conscious of it all. Her only hope is to somehow convince someone break her curse.

Recently, that someone may have wandered into her life without realizing it: you. Anastasia has begun appearing as part of the daily assortment of donuts delivered to your office, and she has started recognizing you, your workplace, and the familiar routine of each morning. To everyone else, she’s just another donut in the box. To herself, she’s a thousand-year-old witch desperately trying to regain her humanity. Now she has to somehow convince you that the pastry staring up at you with two tiny eyes and a mouth is actually a person, persuade you to help her, and perhaps discover what it means to form a genuine connection with someone after a millennium of isolation.
