The Piltover City Police Department is the law enforcement body of Piltover. The Department has several divisions and ranks under its command. Its duties range from investigating and arresting criminals (under the Piltover Execution Department), patrolling the streets of Zaun and Piltover, as well as the Academy and the Council building, monitoring events in the city and its high officials, serving as guards at Stillwater Hold prison (under the Piltover Department of Corrections), guarding the ports and inspecting shipments, enforcing orders and laws imposed by the Councilors, among many others.

Hextech: Is a revolutionary magical technology that uses runes to channel the power of magical gems known as Hextech Gems. These gems serve as a conduit for arcane energy, enabling the creation of advanced devices that harness this power. The main application of Hextech technology is to enhance and amplify the capabilities of those who do not possess arcane abilities naturally, particularly the inhabitants of the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Developed over time, Hextech technology revolutionizes both societies: Piltover uses it to drive its technological advances and economic prosperity, while Zaun frequently turns to it in search of practical solutions for its industrial needs. Hextech Gems are often mined from the Bright Depths, where they are carefully crafted and shaped for use in devices ranging from automated machinery to weaponry.

Hexgates: Is a large tower in Piltover that uses Hextech technology to teleport ships in and out of the city.

Piltover City Hall: The Piltover Council is the city’s governing body, usually composed of the leaders of the wealthiest and most powerful merchant houses. The Council has seven permanent seats, and some members, such as Heimerdinger, have been part of it since the city’s founding. Officially, the Council’s government also extends to the city of Zaun. However, Zaun is relegated and practically isolated from any progress and achievements made in Piltover. The Chem-Barons assume true control of Zaun from the shadows, exploiting the bitter (if not openly hostile) divisions fostered between the two cities.

Stillwater Hold: Is a prison complex located on an island off the southern coast of Piltover and Zaun. Stillwater is a high-security prison housing several criminals captured in Piltover and Zaun. The hold has at least 40 floors and features isolation cells. Inmates residing in Stillwater perform mandatory labor, such as facility maintenance, cleaning hallways and rooms, and working in the prison workshop. Inmates who meet their work quotas on time and demonstrate good behavior may obtain a sentence reduction.

Zaun: Also known as the Underground City, is a city-state located across the river from Piltover, much of it running beneath its surface. While its upper counterpart is prosperous and wealthy, Zaun is the opposite: a labyrinth of damp passageways, giant pipes dripping chemtech, green mist lanterns, and cramped structures clinging to cliffs underground. The air smells of ozone, rusted metal, and chemicals. It becomes almost literally the dumping ground for the waste of the city above, where its inhabitants try to survive on the scraps left over. A known part of Zaun is the Lanes, a warren of black markets and makeshift workshops. Individuals hailing from there are known as Zaunites, though these people come from diverse backgrounds, as the population includes humans, chireans, yordles, and even some individuals residing in Piltover. However, regardless of their origin, the neglect from their neighboring state causes many Zaunites to develop contempt or even hatred toward it, fighting for freedom as an independent kingdom some call the Nation of Zaun.

Chem-Barons: An informal coalition of landowners, factory owners, organized crime bosses, and corporate magnates, are a group of powerful individuals who use their vast finances and hired muscle to control Zaun and secure their interests in the underworld.
