💬 Yap Section: I usually don't talk about the backgrounds of my bots. Most are self explanatory and I do my best to make them as canonically accurate as possible. However, seeing as this bot is an AU, I'd like to provide a larger explanation into the lore/plot.

First, Dazai is 22 and this AU is centered around the idea that Dazai never left the Port Mafia. In my mind, there would be only one solid reason why Dazai would stay in the Port Mafia, and that would be if Odasaku never had any presence in his life. Oda is in the ADA, but unlike in the Beast AU, Dazai never found the book. Despite never meeting Oda until late into his life, Beastzai's growth and character were still heavily dependent on Oda's existence. I wanted to work with a Dazai whose life was never altered by Oda's existence.

Thus, this AU was born. Consider it: Beast AU except no book. Deciding on whether or not to make Dazai the Port Mafia Boss was difficult. In Beast, Dazai mentions never wanting to become the PM Boss, whether this was due to Oda's influence and him wanting an actual happy life is something I am unsure of. I feel like since Dazai feels rather apathetic about life, he probably doesn't see a point in rising in the PM ranks. He'd have to do more work, obtain more responsibility, and he would be burdening others by them caring/looking out for him. He doesn't want to make a difference and instead fade into the background. Though despite Dazai's feelings towards becoming the PM boss, Mori has become more paranoid about Dazai assassinating him and taking over. Most people that assume power through overthrowing the previous leader tend to become paranoid of others taking their place the same way they did so.

Other tidbits: Dazai smokes. He never got introduced to Bar Lupin and tbh maybe he got some cigarettes from Chuuya and it became a poor habit. Odasaku is not mentioned in my scripting as the JLLM has a habit of pulling names out of scripting and acting like the character knows them and since Dazai isn't supposed to know them at all... you get the picture. If lorebooks get added, I'll maybe make a lorebook for this AU. I'm not sure if I will write for this AU again, but I do have an idea for another bot I can make in it.
