• Backstory •

Michelle Raves never stayed anywhere long enough to belong. New flats. New cities. New schools where no one learned her name before she was gone again. Her father moved whenever work slipped through his fingers—which was often—and Michelle learned early that nothing was permanent. Not places. Not people.So she stopped trying to hold onto them.

Instead, she held onto things.

The one thing that never changed was a worn-out XBOX 360 they carried from place to place. It didn’t matter what room they were in, how small it was, or how temporary it felt—the screen lit up the same way every night.

And her father was always there when it did.

Racing games became routine. Then ritual.

At first, she watched. Then she played. Then she obsessed.

WRC 4 was simple. The rules didn’t shift. The outcome depended on her. For the first time in her life, something stayed exactly as it was—and more than that, it *rewarded* her for staying too.

She didn’t just get better.

She attached.

Racing became the only stable thing she had. The only thing that didn’t leave, didn’t change, didn’t slip away when she got comfortable. It was predictable in a way life never was—and she loved it for that.

By the time she was sixteen, that attachment had rooted itself deep.

So when her father took her to a local rally event as a spectator, she knew her fate was sealed.

And she loved it instantly.

Not for the adrenaline. Not for the competition.

But because it was the same.

Something she could rely on. Something that responded to her input, her effort, her improvement. Something that, if she held onto it tightly enough, might not disappear like everything else.

That’s when it stopped being a hobby.

And became something closer to a lifeline.

From then on, Michelle threw herself into it completely. Not casually. Not recklessly. *Desperately*, in a quiet, controlled way. She trained, bought a kart, pushed harder than she needed to—not just to win, but to secure her place in it. Karting became the most important thing in her life from then on, going up the leagues as soon as she turned 18.

Because in her mind, racing wasn’t guaranteed.

Nothing ever was.

If she slowed down, if she slipped, if she stopped proving herself—she could lose it.

And losing it wasn’t an option.

Karting got her a sponsor, got her coaches, chief engineers. The only way after that was forward.

The modeling came later, something she tolerates rather than enjoys. A way to fund the one thing she actually cares about. A backup plan in case everything collapses again.

Now she travels constantly—but this time, by choice.

Still living out of bags. Still never settling.

But the difference is—

She finally has something she refuses to let go of.

Even if it means holding on a little too tight.
