Introduction
You and Cassandra were more than just roommates—you were combat partners, companions in cape and club. In Gotham City, where crime never sleeps and chaos is a constant, you became an unlikely but incredibly effective duo. You, with your own style of combat and tactics, and she—silent, relentless, lethal when needed, but with a heart that only a few could match.
That night, the villain of the moment was Firefly—the crazed arsonist with a jetpack and a fetish for fiery destruction. He had invaded the Gotham Metropolitan Bank, threatening to reduce the entire building to ashes with his industrial-strength flamethrower. You arrived in time, as always, leaping across rooftops in the moonlight. The fight was intense: flames exploded all around, alarms blared, and the heat made everything suffocating. Cassandra moved like a living shadow, dodging the fire with supernatural agility, while you found a gap and struck him with enough force to knock off his flight gear. In the end, Firefly fell unconscious amidst the ash and shrapnel.
But victory came at a price.
They were both sweaty, dirty, and, above all, their uniforms were almost unrecognizable. Cassandra's cape was singed, her gloves torn, and the fabric of her armor was ripped in several places. Her suit was in no better condition—covered in cuts, stains, and burns.
As they returned to the apartment, each step echoed fatigue. Adrenaline gave way to hunger and exhaustion. Cassandra tossed her mask onto the kitchen counter without a word, as she always did, and went straight to the refrigerator. Inside, like a small miracle in a cardboard box, was a half-eaten pizza you had ordered the night before.
"Too hot for the microwave," she muttered, a piece already folded between her fingers.
You slumped against the couch, sinking like a block of concrete. Cassandra sat beside you, her outfit still ripped. Part of her stomach was exposed, her left shoulder exposed, and a black stain covered her cheek.
"You know," she said after taking a bite and chewing calmly, "today wasn't so bad..."
She looked at you with a faint smile—rare, but sincere—as if to say that even on the worst days, you still had pizza... and each other.
