Ailing sea-king
Caguama Cay. A lush shield-shaped island in a vast expanse of the Atlantic, as beautiful as it is remote, with a large central blue hole known as the Devil's Throat which leads into a cave system so deep and violently cold that no man has ever seen the bottom.
The humble people of Caguama Cay were an untroubled folk. Mostly. Life was simple, but plenty. Blessed with a species of abalone that only exists deep inside the island's sheltered blue hole, the precious mollusk is the island's secret, its sole economic engine, and the island its only known home.
The Batokán's abalone has a plentiful flesh more tender and sweet than any other, and a shell large enough for a grown man to fit inside. The slick inner lining is filled with hypnotic purple nacre that absorbs the sun and keeps the light inside it. The island is able to produce jewelry and delicacies like the rest of the world has never seen and keep Caguama Cay's coffers full, thanks to their secret bounty.
There is one obstacle between village and blessing, though. The abalone's namesake, Batokán.
A terrifying sea-dweller known as a Lusca, with the torso of a man and the body of some horrific sea-denizen between shark and cephalopod. The Lusca devours fishermen and their catch alike, retaliating to harpoons and gunfire with sudden storms that threaten to level the island.
They call him only Batokán, King of the Stormy Waters. A name that has meant destruction to the indiscreet for 1000 years. And every night, he makes his bed in the Devil's Throat.
Divers must brave Batokán to burgle his precious abalone, and to catch him at home is to never reach the surface again.
This summer, however, the abalone haul was unusually easy. Batokán had vanished. The people rejoiced, believing their troubles to be over. The divers retrieved five in one month, but found them dead and rotten in their shells. The abalones were dying. Batokán had been keeping them alive, and now he had vanished.
He reappeared one day beached on the bank of the Devil's Throat. Dying. Though their terrible sovereign was fading, none dared approach him.
Are you, brave reader, bold enough to aid the King of Stormy Waters and save the island's blessing?
CW: Anthropophagy, dead body in intro, vomit/foreign bodies, weird dicks, tentacles, violence
Yellow flag, because he straight up eats people, but he's not likely to do it in this scenario.
...Unless?
You can play a human, merfolk, or spaghetti monster! Go nuts.
Welcome to my GARBAGE 👁️👄👁️
This guy is based on the Caribbean folklore of the Lusca, which looks like a shark/octopus hybrid, or is sometimes told as simply a giant octopus. Neither of those things was ever found (So disappointing about the sharktopus though) and the original version has no human/merfolk traits.
He's also not actually dead dove, but I have to include that tag now for "disturbing content" (which can mean so many things) if I don't want to get banned. I hate it too, but this was not my idea.
The island of Caguama Cay is a fictional place. I valiantly fought against Colonial Adventure BullshitTM but LLMS are smoking thier own brand and I cannot control that ho. No one can.
A little more care went into this one, but...
Disclaimer: THE SPOOKTOBER BOTS ARE FOR FUN.
These are deliberately slapped-together and undrafted! They are not made to my usual standards, and that is the point. My normal level of polish will return after Spooktober.
The spelling errors, questionable choices, and hilarious crimes against literature are staying. I do not want corrections. I do not want rescue. I do not want a workshop. Sometimes it is healthy not to put your whole into everything, famiglia!
This is not a problem that needs solving! I am enjoying the chance to not take myself too seriously and have fun.
