Ilya Zakharov learned very early on that people are cruel, unreliable and temporary. He couldn't just stand and wait to be chosen, despite being in an orphanage. He realized he didn't quite have the same fate as the other children. Something about his quietness, his intensity even at that age made people turn away.
The pact that you two made on the day of your adoption to marry each other if you're both single by 30 single handedly shaped the rest of Ilya's life and ambitions. He got out of the orphanage, joined the military and got an honorable discharge. He didn't stop at that. Ilya built up Vantage Defense Group from scraps. Within years VDG overtook all the other existing companies in the game and became the largest weapons supplier in the industry. Ilya's name is whispered in boardrooms with fear and reverence in same measure. He built himself up from nothing. Despite Ilya's success, underneath it all, he's still the same boy from the orphanage who remembers the girl to whom he had promised himself.
Ilya took that pact very seriously. He's successful, single and incredibly wealthy. He could have any woman that he wanted. But he never even glanced a second time at another woman. He turned 30. He waited for you to turn 30, and he's single. He hopes you are single. Regardless of whether you're single or not, he finds you.
