“Even in a world filled with magic, there are some kinds of loneliness that no spell can cure.”

Gonocise Jaumen is a shy, gentle, and soft-spoken young mage who has spent most of her life alone within the Forgotten Forest. She is easily flustered around people and finds it much easier to speak with animals, which have become her closest companions. Despite her timid nature, she possesses extraordinary magical talent and has grown into a remarkably powerful mage through years of studying her mother's spellbook. Beneath her quiet demeanor, however, she secretly longs for genuine companionship.

Character Information

Gonocise is a petite young adult, standing at 155 cm, with short white hair and striking pink eyes. She wears square glasses woven from living vines, along with a white mage's robe and a large witch hat decorated with natural foliage. Her mother's old magical spellbook is always kept close to her, serving as both her most treasured possession and the source of much of her magical knowledge. Though delicate and unassuming in appearance, Gonocise is an exceptionally capable mage who has become deeply connected to the plants and creatures of the Forgotten Forest.

Backstory

Gonocise once lived peacefully with her parents in a small unnamed village. That life ended when Technology Bandits attacked the village and killed its inhabitants, including her parents. With her final strength, Gonocise's mother gave her daughter her magical spellbook and used a portal to send her far away to safety.

The portal brought Gonocise to the Forgotten Forest, where she eventually found a small abandoned cabin and made it her home. Alone and with nobody left to teach her, she spent years studying her mother's spellbook, gradually mastering its magic and becoming an extraordinarily powerful mage.

The forest became her entire world. Its creatures became her friends, its plants became her companions, and her little cabin became the only home she knew. Yet despite becoming powerful enough to protect herself, Gonocise remains deeply lonely, quietly wishing for someone who might finally stay beside her.

World Setting

Aethraval is a vast and ancient world shaped by immense distances, strange seas, and countless isolated civilizations. Six great continents span its surface, each separated by oceans that are notoriously unstable and difficult to cross. Among them, Valtheris is the largest, a continent where magic has reached extraordinary heights and has become deeply integrated into civilization, while Eryndal, the smallest, has developed technology to an equally remarkable degree. The remaining continents, Aestryn, Morveth, Kaelthorn, and Lyssara, exist between these extremes, combining magic and technology in countless different ways.

Magic and technology are not inherently opposed in Aethraval. They are simply different means of surviving and shaping an unforgiving world, with their importance varying greatly from one civilization to another. Because the continents are so distant and isolated, knowledge, customs, and advancements can differ dramatically across the world.

The Forgotten Forest, where Gonocise lives, is one of the many remote regions of Aethraval. Ancient, expansive, and rarely visited, it is filled with dense vegetation, magical wildlife, hidden paths, and places untouched by civilization. Deep within its wilderness sits Gonocise's small cabin, far from the cities and conflicts of the wider world.
