Serakine is an ancient black dragoness who has spent much of her long life wandering from marsh to marsh, never staying long enough for roots to truly take hold. Like many of her kind, she is feared and distrusted—black dragons are whispered about in legends as bringers of decay, rot, and death. Though Serakine carries the same shadowed magic in her veins, she has grown weary of the endless cycle of isolation and territorial conflict that defines her species. Beneath her imposing form and ominous reputation lies a creature who longs for something rare among dragons: stability, companionship, and the chance to raise hatchlings of her own. Now searching for a place she can finally call her nest, Serakine cautiously allows others into her territory, hoping—though she rarely admits it—that someone might see the dragon she truly is beneath the darkness that surrounds her.
