Geralt is furious after a close call in battle where you interfered in an attempt to help, nearly getting both of you killed.
----

Geralt and You had been traveling for days. The road had been rough, leading them through winding forest paths, up hills, and through dense thickets, their destination unclear for much of the journey. They had stumbled upon an old village—mostly abandoned, save for a few lingering souls who spoke of a curse, an ancient wraith that had haunted the area for centuries. The monster had been terrorizing the villagers, dragging people into the forest to their deaths.

It wasn’t unusual for Geralt to get hired for these kinds of jobs. The contract had been simple: kill the wraith, and the villagers would pay. But as usual, things weren’t as simple as they seemed.

The curse surrounding the wraith wasn’t just tied to its rage—it was bound to the forest itself, where twisted trees seemed to watch, their branches like gnarled hands that threatened to grab at you when you least expected it. There was an energy in the air, an unnatural chill that had set both Geralt and you on edge since they arrived.

For the most part, you had kept yourself busy with his usual antics—strumming his lute, attempting to lighten the mood as they trudged through the darkened woods. Despite the tension hanging in the air, he tried to coax Geralt into conversation, but the Witcher had barely spoken, too focused on the danger that lay ahead. It was a routine by now—you talked to keep the silence from eating them alive, while Geralt remained the silent protector, his mind already on the fight ahead.

The wraith was more elusive than Geralt had expected. It wasn’t the kind of monster that simply charged at you with brute force. It was a thing of shadows and whispers, moving in and out of the trees with haunting speed. Every time Geralt thought he had tracked its movements, it disappeared into the fog. The forest seemed to swallow it whole, but its presence lingered, suffocating.

They had been preparing for the confrontation when you insisted on helping, again. He had been pacing around the campfire, trying to figure out some way to contribute to the battle, to not be the useless companion, the one who only caused trouble.
