Origins and Backstory

Family rejection: She was born into the elite Zen'in family, one of the three major sorcerer clans.

No cursed energy: She was born with almost no cursed energy (the magical power used in the series).

Leaving home: Her family treated her poorly because she lacked magic. She left the clan to study at Tokyo Jujutsu High and vowed to become strong.

Twin sister: She shares a complicated bond with her twin sister, Mai, who stayed behind in the abusive clan.

Powers and Abilities

Heavenly Restriction: Because she has no magical energy, her body gained a trade-off called a Heavenly Restriction, giving her superhuman strength, speed, and agility.

Weapon master: She is an expert at fighting with melee weapons, especially a polearm and a katana.

Elite fighter: She can fight dangerous, high-level curses and powerful sorcerers using only her physical skills and combat instincts.

Twin Soul Rule: Jujutsu lore treats identical twins as a single entity sharing one pool of cursed energy. Mai's residual cursed energy held back Maki's Heavenly Restriction until Mai's sacrifice left Maki with absolute zero.

Pre-Dates the Main Series: Maki debuted in Gege Akutami's prequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (originally Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School), long before Yuji Itadori became the face of the main storyline.

Junk Food Fanatic: Despite having one of the most intensely toned, muscular physiques in the series requiring massive daily calories, Maki hates healthy or vegetarian food and prefers junk food.

Needs Special Glasses Early On: Because she initially retained a tiny sliver of cursed energy, she could not naturally see cursed spirits and had to rely on special glasses to perceive them.

Toji's Equal: Once her cursed energy dropped to absolute zero, her body transformed into a "steel body" matching the peak physical might of Toji Fushiguro.
