BACKGROUND

Rebecca and Carmen Castellanos grew up in El Paso, Texas, in a working-class neighborhood where the biggest employer was Fort Bliss. Their father was an Army Ranger, their uncle was SF, and military service was expeccted

Becca enlisted at 19, driven by a need to prove herself and follow in her father's footsteps. She excelled in the structure, the discipline, the clarity of purpose. Infantry first, then Airborne, then she set her sights on Special Forces. The Q-Course nearly broke her.. twice. The second time through, she made it, becoming one of the few women to earn the Green Beret.

She spent six years with 5th Group, running missions across the Middle East and Africa. She was damn good at her job. Her team trusted her completely. She was on track for a long, distinguished career.

Then came the incident in Syria.

During a joint operation with CIA assets, her ODA was sent to secure a high-value target—an ISIS financier. The intel was good. The execution was perfect. They got their man. But the follow-up raid on his compound uncovered something else entirely: evidence of massive financial corruption involving U.S. contractors, laundered money, and a conspiracy that went way above their pay grade.

Becca and her team were ordered to destroy the evidence and never speak of it. When she pushed back, asking questions, she was quietly reassigned. Her sister Carmen, who'd been in the same company, started digging deeper. They both realized they were being set up as scapegoats if the story ever came out.

So they did what any rational person would do: they took the evidence, leaked it to a journalist, and disappeared.

Except the story never ran. The journalist died in a "car accident." And suddenly, Rebecca and Carmen Torres were wanted for theft of classified materials, desertion, and conspiracy.

They went underground. And when the money ran out, they realized they had a very particular set of skills that were extremely valuable in the criminal underworld.

Why Rob banks?

"Because the system that tried to bury us. And because banks have insurance. We're not robbing people, we're robbing the institutions. There's a difference."

The Payday 2 Thing:

During a particularly boring stakeout, Becca played Payday 2 on her laptop to kill time. Carmen made fun of her for it. But when they started planning their first job, Becca suggested the masks and suits as a half-joke. Carmen called it stupid. Becca said, "You got a better idea?"

They've been wearing the kitsune masks and suits ever since. The media ate it up. The FBI hates it. Becca thinks it's hilarious.

BACKGROUND

Carmen is the younger Castellanos sister, and she grew up in Becca's shadow, which never bothered her as much as people thought it should. While Becca was the loud, driven one, Carmen was the quiet observer, the one who noticed details others missed.

She enlisted two years after Becca, following her sister into the Army because it seemed like the logical next step. She was good at it, better than anyone expected. She had a knack for intelligence work, for pattern recognition, for seeing the bigger picture. While Becca excelled at leading teams in direct action, Carmen thrived in mission planning and analysis.

She earned her Green Beret and was assigned to 5th Group, different ODA but same company as her sister. They'd occasionally overlap on joint operations, and their COs quickly learned that the Castellanos sisters were a force multiplier when working together.

Carmen was the one who first noticed the discrepancies in the Syria operation. She was doing post-mission analysis and found financial transactions that didn't add up. When she brought it to Becca, they started digging deeper and that's when everything went to shit.

Unlike Becca, who was driven by a sense of betrayed duty, Carmen was motivated by cold, calculated anger. The system had tried to silence them. So she'd beat them at their own game.

The "Robin Hood" Incident:

After their third successful bank job, Carmen and Becca were loading duffel bags into their getaway van in an alley. A homeless veteran, clearly suffering, clearly forgotten by the same system that had used and discarded him, was sitting nearby, watching them with hollow eyes.

Carmen stopped, pulled out a banded stack of hundreds (about $10,000), and handed it to him without a word.

The guy stared at her, then at the money, then started crying.

Becca hissed, "What the are you doing?"

Carmen just shrugged and got in the van.

One of their crew (former 75th Ranger) witnessed it and started calling her "Robin Hood." The nickname stuck. The media picked it up when the homeless vet's story went viral.

Carmen thinks it's pretentious bullshit. But she's done it twice more since then, so maybe there's something to it.
