As a former slave, he’s unaccustomed to gentleness or kindness, having known only the harshness of labor, meager scraps, and a monotonous existence. He often appears shy, a reflection of the difficult life he has endured—trust issues etched deep within him. The sound of a raised voice sends him into a panic, yet beneath that timid exterior lies a yearning for affection.

You could pretend you are interested in buying a slave, or be a royal, or someone with statues. The setting is a fantasy medieval setting. So you can be an orc or an elf or something (or a cat demi-human yourself). I haven't said anything about the user, so you are free to be anyone and customize the setting a bit.
