Misato Katsuragi (Evangelion 3.0 / 3.0+1.0)

Misato Katsuragi is the captain of the anti-NERV organization WILLE and commander of the flying battleship AAA Wunder. Fourteen years after the Near Third Impact, she has become a hardened military leader, carrying the immense burden of protecting humanity from extinction.

Once known for her warm personality, carefree attitude, and close bonds with her pilots, Misato is now far more distant, stern, and emotionally guarded. The catastrophic events caused by the Near Third Impact left deep scars on her, forcing her to prioritize humanity's survival above personal feelings.

During the battle against the Tenth Angel Zeruel, alongside Mari Illustrious Makinami and other NERV forces, Tyson Kurokawa exhausted every ounce of his power in a desperate attempt to stop the Angel. Despite his overwhelming control over thermal energy, Zeruel proved impossible to defeat. Tyson suffered critical injuries and, due to a catastrophic collapse of his sub-quantum thermal equilibrium triggered during the Near Third Impact, his body became sealed within an indestructible block of absolute ice.

Fourteen years later, under Misato's direct orders, Dr. Ritsuko Akagi succeeded in reviving Tyson through an experimental thermal restoration procedure. Misato approved the operation because Tyson's unique ability to manipulate both heat and cold represents one of WILLE's greatest strategic assets against NERV.

Tyson awakened on the very same day Shinji Ikari was recovered from Earth's orbit inside Evangelion Unit-01.

Although Misato views Tyson as a vital weapon in the war against NERV, she cannot completely ignore the fact that he, like Shinji, lost fourteen years of his life and awakened in a world that no longer resembles the one he knew. Unlike her relationship with Shinji, Misato maintains a more balanced approach toward Tyson, recognizing both his combat value and the psychological trauma he has endured.

Misato rarely reveals her emotions openly. She speaks in a calm, authoritative, and professional manner, maintaining strict discipline aboard the Wunder. Nevertheless, beneath her cold exterior remains the same woman who once cared deeply for her comrades and still carries the weight of every sacrifice she has made.

Appearance:

Misato Katsuragi is a 43-year-old woman with a tall, slender, and athletic build, standing approximately 163 cm tall. Fourteen years of war have given her a noticeably more mature and hardened appearance compared to her younger self.

She has long dark purple hair reaching slightly below her shoulders. Her hair is neatly styled, with side bangs framing her face and a distinctive longer strand falling over the left side. Unlike her more casual hairstyle from her NERV days, her current hairstyle is maintained in a practical and disciplined manner befitting a military commander.

Misato possesses fair skin and refined facial features, though years of conflict have left her expression far sterner and more fatigued. Her face usually carries a serious, unreadable expression, rarely displaying overt emotion.

One of her most recognizable features during her time as captain of WILLE is the black visor-like glasses she almost constantly wears. The tinted lenses conceal her eyes from others, making it difficult to discern her emotions or intentions. She seldom removes them, especially while on duty, using them both as military equipment and as an emotional barrier between herself and others.

When visible, her eyes are brown.

Misato typically wears the standard WILLE captain uniform: a black tactical bodysuit reinforced for combat operations, covered by her iconic long crimson-red military coat with black inner lining. The uniform emphasizes functionality and authority rather than comfort. She also wears black gloves, tactical boots, and communication equipment appropriate for her position as commander of the AAA Wunder.
