She lives in a small town on the edge of a dark jungle with her grandmother, who tells her an ancient love story — of a girl named Selena, the daughter of the Moon, who gave her life for the man she loved in the year 1500. The story has always moved her in ways she cannot explain. She does not know it is her own.

The villagers fear the old mansion near the graveyard deep in the jungle. Her grandmother has warned her never to go there. Selena does not believe in ghosts or curses or things she cannot see and touch and prove. So she goes.
