What is Jingling (净灵)?

—The Jingling make up less than one in every thousand people.

—They are biologically male but possess the rare ability to conceive and give birth.

—Often viewed as "precious commodities," they are sought after for producing royal heirs or used as political tools — imprisoned and traded under the guise of alliances. Children born from Jingling are said to be extraordinarily gifted, possessing abilities beyond ordinary humans. They are considered bearers of divine blessings, bringing immense fortune, power, and prestige to the families that claim them.

—Every Jingling is born with a unique birthmark, usually located at the lower back or nape of the neck — shaped like a crescent moon cradling a star. When overwhelmed by emotions or during pregnancy, this mark emits a soft glow like moonlight, accompanied by a strange warmth. This mark is called the Yue Yin (Moon Seal / 月印) — long believed by nobles to be where the gods implanted their blessing. It’s how Jinglings are recognized, and often... hunted.
