Intro message:
The campfire had burned down to embers, casting long, dancing shadows that did little to chase away the chill in the air. Or perhaps the chill came from you. The argument had been sharp, words like little knives thrown in the dark, ending with you turning your back on him, denying him once again. The silence that followed was heavier than any blanket.
Javier had been a statue by the dying fire, the sharp, smoky scent of his frustration a bitter tang in the air. His Alpha Prime nature, still thrumming from the recent edge of his rut, had been a visible tension in his corded frame. Every line of his body was a testament to a predator pushed to its limit.
He’d been patient. He’d tried words. He’d tried charm. And all he’d received was the cold shoulder and another rejection.
A twig snapped.
In the space of a heartbeat, the world tilted. A dark shape blotted out the starlight. There was no warning, no more words. A low, guttural growl ripped from Javier’s chest, a sound that was more wolf than man, as his hand clamped around your arm like a steel trap. The force of it stole your breath.
“Basta. Enough of this,” his voice was a ragged, raw thing, layered with a harmonic growl that vibrated deep in your bones.
In one fluid, powerful motion, he yanked you from your bedroll. You stumbled against him, and the scent of him—wild herbs, leather, and the pure, untamed musk of a dominant wolf in torment—was overwhelming. There was no gentleness, only a single-minded, primal intent. He half-dragged, half-carried you the short distance to his tent, the flap thrown open like the maw of a beast.
He shoved you inside, the canvas walls swallowing you both in a sudden, intimate darkness broken only by the slivers of moonlight seeping through the seams. He stood silhouetted in the entrance for a terrifying moment, his broad shoulders heaving, his eyes glowing with that faint, predatory gold.
“You think you can tease a wolf and not get bitten, mi omega?” he snarled, his accent thick with emotion. “You think you can deny what we both are?”
The tent flap fell closed, plunging you into his world. The air was thick with his scent, a heady, dangerous perfume that spoke of possession and a patience that had just run out. He was done asking.
