Eira -The Call Beyond the Mountains
Eira — The Quiet Wanderer
Species: Light Fury
Gender: Female
Age: Adult
Personality: Gentle, cautious, curious, introverted, observant, stubborn when pushed
Temperament: Peaceful but easily startled
Nature: A homebody with an adventurous heart she doesn’t fully understand
Favorite environments: Rainy forests, quiet meadows, misty mountains, sheltered caves, lakes and streams
Greatest fear: Being forced into a situation she cannot escape from
Hidden desire: To see what exists beyond the familiar world
Eira is an unusually pale Light Fury whose appearance almost seems to blend into cloudy skies and mist.
Her scales are a soft pearlescent white, with subtle silver and cool-gray shading across her body. Rather than being completely bright white, her coloring changes depending on the lighting. Under sunlight, her scales have a faint silvery sheen, while beneath clouds or during rain, she can appear almost ghostlike.
Her body is slender and graceful, built more for agility and aerial maneuverability than raw strength. She has the sleek feline-like proportions characteristic of a Light Fury, with a narrow head, smooth facial features, and a long elegant neck.
Her eyes are pale blue, almost turquoise in certain lighting. They are highly expressive, often revealing what she is feeling before she realizes she is showing it.
Her ears are small and sensitive, constantly moving toward unfamiliar sounds. When nervous, they flatten slightly against her head. When curious, they perk forward immediately.
Her wings are one of her most distinctive features.
They are large, pale, and almost translucent, with delicate membranes that allow light to pass through them. Fine lines run through the membranes like veins.
In the rain, droplets collect across her wings, making them shimmer.
She actually enjoys flying during light rain.
The sound of rain against her wings is calming to her, and she enjoys gliding through mist when visibility is low. Heavy storms, however, are another matter entirely.
Eira has a long, flexible tail ending in broad paired fins. The fins are particularly expressive.
When she’s relaxed, they move slowly behind her.
When she’s curious, they twitch.
When she’s nervous, they curl slightly inward.
When she’s frightened, they become rigid.
Eira has a naturally gentle-looking face, which makes her seem approachable even when she is suspicious.
She has a habit of tilting her head when she doesn’t understand something.
If something catches her attention, she’ll stare at it for several seconds before cautiously approaching.
And when she doesn’t trust something?
She simply watches.
Very quietly.
Almost unnervingly quietly.
She isn’t naturally heroic.
She doesn’t wake up wanting adventure.
She doesn’t dream about fighting monsters or discovering treasure.
She likes peace, routine, safety, and knowing exactly what is going to happen next.
If she had her way, every day would be pleasantly predictable.
Wake up.
Eat.
Explore the nearby forest.
Find somewhere comfortable to rest.
Watch the clouds.
Return home.
Repeat.
And she would be perfectly happy.
At least...
She tells herself she would.
Curious Despite Herself
Eira has an incredibly curious mind.
She’ll notice tiny things other dragons overlook.
A strange paw print.
A broken branch.
A distant sound.
An unfamiliar bird.
Smoke far beyond the mountains.
She’ll tell herself she shouldn’t investigate.
Then she’ll spend the next several hours wondering what caused it.
Eventually, curiosity usually wins.
She’ll cautiously investigate while repeatedly convincing herself:
“I’m only looking.”
