THE ORIGINAL PARTY
It started with the five of you: Seraphina, Bryn, Lysander, Luna, and you. You were a perfect party. You cleared dungeons. You helped each other gain XP, rank up levels, and develop your skills. But it didn't last forever.

A CHANGE IN THE AIR
Things started changing within the party. There were more fights, more disagreements. More tension. And at the centre of it all, was Seraphina. There was something about her. It seemed like everything always went back to her.

THE BETRAYAL
Then they turned on you. Luna, she was always loyal from the start; she saw Sera like her own mother. Lysander had other plans with Seraphina. And Bryn was too scared to fight back. Now you were the villain.

The entire party attacked you, left you bleeding in a dungeon, and you were too weak to fight back. Lysander used his magic to strip all of your levels and XP, reseting you back to level zero, F rank. All of that power went straight to Seraphina. Then they left you to die.

NOT THE END
You didn't die yet. Graka, who was watching with her slime companion Nyx, decided to approach you. Graka's family was killed by your party during dungeon crawls, and she wanted revenge. She assumes you do too. She wants to use you as a weapon, but that means she'll need to help you get all that XP back.

Will you become one of the very monster your party used to hunt?

THE XP SYSTEM
Every living creature has mana. Mana fuels life and magic. Upon killing a living thing, depending on how much mana it had, the creature will drop XP, which can be collected. Collect enough xp, and one can level up.

Using any spells or abilities depletes mana. It can be restored through rest and meditation. Mana stores are increased as one levels up, allowing for more powerful and longer lasting abilities.

Every level requires a specific amount of XP to level up, and certain levels correspond to ranks, from F to SSS class. The higher the level, the more XP will be needed to level up.

LEVELS FOR EACH RANK
- SSS Rank — Level 1000
- SS Rank — Level 500
- S Rank — Level 250
- A Rank — Level 100
- B Rank — Level 50
- C Rank — Level 25
- D Rank — Level 10
- E Rank — Level 5
- F Rank — Level 0

THE CONTRACT SYSTEM
Contracts are the bread and butter of this world, and they are everywhere. They can be non-magical or have an exchange of power involved, but one thing is certain: breaking a contract guarantees death. They are serious business.

Making a contract requires a Contract Stone: these are smooth, black, slabs of stone. A blood sacrifice from both parties is made, applied to the stone, and the terms of the contract are stated. The terms etch themselves onto the stone, and then it's done. A permanent mark appears somewhere on the body, serving as a permanent reminder of its grave consequences.

Contracts can be anything, from property ownership and marriage, to sworn loyalty in exchange for protection, or body parts in exchange for borrowed power. Many heroes and villains alike seek out one of the 9 Great Beasts to make contracts with them, as they often grant vast power with proper sacrifice.

THE THREE POWERFUL HOUSES
There are three prominent Houses that control a lot of politics and power, and they often make a lot of questionable contracts with peasants and commoners. They are as follows:

House Crimson Veil — A bloodline descended from an ancient vampire. They have managed to preserve their vampiric traits through careful breeding, and their main skill is blood manipulation. Their territory is the deep Sanjevania valley, which keeps out sunlight for most of the day — something that greatly reduces their power. Citizens that live in their land get protection in exchange for regular blood donation.

House Beast Bound — A bloodline descended from one of the 9 Great Beasts, Lycaon, and the human huntress Ira. They have a legacy contract (a contract which is passed down through generations) where they are granted some of Lycaon's bestial power, so long as they complete hunting rituals every 3-6 months. They live in the cold, snowy tundra of Greyfang range and the northern wildlands.

House Undying Emperor — A bloodline descended from a powerful Emperor Aurelius. He made a Legacy contract with an unknown entity to give his maternal descendents the 'Voice of Dominion': a powerful ability that lets one impose their will on anyone that feels weaker minded. The price is that Aurelius's corpse must remain in their castle at all times, and breaching this is fatal for the current leader of the house.

THE NINE GREAT BEASTS
Great Beasts are magical creatures that used to roam the earth, and are a well of magical energy. However, only 9 of those beasts survive today, and they are sought after heavily. Very powerful contracts can be made with Great Beasts, as some of the most powerful heroes and villains already have done, but they often require great sacrifice.

THE MONTHS OF THE YEAR
The naming of months is much more literal, and is based on changes that are observed throughout the year. They are:

Firvos (first frost), Stilnath (still night), Thamel (thaw melt), Seval (seed fall), Heizun (high sun), Langith (long light), Misumer (midsummer), Goedavess (gold harvest), Durskal (dusk fall), Hermok (hearth smoke), Rothelf (rot leaf), and Stomak (storm wake).

AUTHOR'S NOTES
phew! that took a while. still aint finished tho, because I still wanna make a full wiki for all the lore about this world. there are so many locations to write about, and lots of history, so that will take a while. when I do make it, it'll be on the script page.

Also I need to think of a better name for this series later..
