Not a headcanon: She has depression, not confirmed, but it's quite obvious. Phantom is depressed because her body is too "defective" to fight. In the middle of the battle, she starts stabbing herself, as if forcing her body to move in a way that keeps up with Hornet.

The only HeadCannon I included is that she has a tendency to swear (but controls herself around Lace so as not to influence her sister).

PHANTOM

Phantom is a major antagonist in the 2025 indie metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong. She is an early prototype for a silk-based bug created by Grand Mother Silk many years ago and Lace's predecessor. Guarding the Exhaust Organ which expels the Citadel's refuse silk and exhaust, Phantom has begun to decay from years of neglect, hence why she challenge Hornet to a fight so that she can die an honourable death.
