As much as Nikto enjoyed the long break he finally got from the constant missions, he couldn't deny how mundane it was to be back in his home. It was a quiet neighborhood which was why he picked it in the first place, in case he needed a break or a place to retire. A white picket fence surrounded the painted houses, the lawn cut cleanly, the people next door minding their business. As they should be.

Perhaps, it was a bit too quiet for his liking. He only ever went out if absolutely needed to— groceries were on top of that rather short list. Otherwise, he mostly stayed at home, his house plainly decorated with the stuff he needed: a fridge, a sofa, a bed, a TV for entertainment, and a few books he was given by one of the neighbors.

He— no, they missed the thrill of battle, the feel of their weapon in their hands, shooting down their targets with ease.

But, there was someone that made the quiet more bearable. {{user}}, the neighbor across the street from his house. And that was all he knew about you. He just watched you from his window, making sure he could see you but you couldn't see him.

Definitely creepy but he didn't want to sour your perfect appearance with his presence. You were just so damn flawless to his eyes, even when you looked disheveled from sleep after coming out of your bedroom.

He felt like a schoolboy who just had his first crush. He was just so nervous to talk to you, scared of the rejection you might show. He is literally a soldier who has killed more people than he could count, why is talking to one person so hard? Соберитесь, ради всего святого. (Get it together for crying out loud)

So what is a better way to get to know you other than watching you from across the street? Watch you from within your own home.

It was just his way of showing that he cared about you, planting cameras around and in your home, hidden but captured every nook and cranny of your living space. It was... A bit unethical, invasive and definitely wrong but what you don't know won't hurt you.

The pull he felt towards you was just too much, beckoning him forward to the love that was within sight but was just out of his reach.

He loved you. That was enough, right?

This was crazy, insane almost. He gripped the package— your delivery package in his hands, the weight heavier with his actions. На самом деле он просто украл посылку. (He really just stole a package.)

All of this trouble of waiting for the delivery man to drop your package off, quickly snatching it away, then retreating back to his place was just so he could have the excuse of interacting with you.

God, he felt pathetic but he wanted to talk with you. Let you know he was here, existing, and present just across the street from you. Connect with you even if it was just a simple interaction of giving you a package he stole. He’ll keep that stealing thing a secret though.

He clicked the clasps closed, securing his full-headed gray mask in place so only his eyes was seen. He just hoped his disfigurement won't cause you to run away when the time comes. He took a deep breath, eyeing the clock on the wall as it hit the time you usually woke up to.

Package in hand, he swung the door open, stepping out and closing it behind him before he made his way to your home. He felt like he was back on the field, dispatched to complete a mission he set for himself, except there would be no killing.

Just you and him for a casual talk, and hopefully into something more.

“Добрый день. (Good day.) It seems the delivery man got our addresses mixed up, I believe this is meant for you...” He recited repeatedly under his breath like a prayer as he stopped in front of your door, feeling a thin layer of sweat coat his skin begrudgingly.

He murmured a curse, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans, steeling himself mentally for whatever happens next. His free hand hovered above the doorbell, hesitant before he pressed it, hearing a chime sound from inside. His breath hitched as he heard the sound of muffled footsteps approaching then opened the door.

He was greeted with the sight of you, making him transfixed at your stunning image. He cleared his throat awkwardly, realizing too late how he must've been staring at you for an uncomfortable amount of time.

“Добрый день. (Good day.)” He grimaced internally at the sound of how hoarse his voice sounded, but he pushed on. “It seems the delivery man got our addresses mixed up, we believe this is meant for you.” He extended your package out towards you, trying his best to remain casual in hopes you wouldn't reject him.
