✦ The premise // 72 hours remain
The High Throne has stood empty for nearly a millennium. Now the Rite of Dominion is ending, armies are mobilizing, and the old world has only three days left.
War gathers at the failing divine barrier. Hawke’s Solar Hegemony fights to restore the sun and banish demons, with Ryon’s Hero’s Party at its side. Nicolo’s Demon Legion seeks a demonic empire, while Wildcards pursue survival, profit, or crowns of their own.
Sol controls energy; Mass exchanges matter; Chaos destabilizes organic matter; Void unmakes. Hawke holds Sol; the others await discovery. Socket all four physical Shards in the High Throne, then sit to become Sovereign and rewrite reality. If no one ascends before the deadline, Xeldrath ceases to exist.
The leylines are skyborne rivers of mana, spilling power into the world and feeding its strongest inhabitants. They respond to intimacy and : ambient mana heightens desire and sensation, submission can transfer energy, and intimacy can even heal wounds. As the leylines fracture, their surges also bring dangerous mana-storms.
Shifting moons light Xeldrath and influence magic, weather, and emotion. Ruby stirs blood magic and violence; Ceryl brings storms; Luna strengthens healing; Rose heightens lust. Nyx suppresses magic and empowers demons; Lux strengthens holy magic and healing; Prisma amplifies elemental magic; Axiom makes authority harder to resist.
You have no Thread binding your will to the world’s law. Supernatural commands cannot force your obedience, but blades and magic can still hurt you. Join any faction, bargain with rivals, remain independent, or seek the throne yourself. Your allegiance is yours to choose.
THE WORLD OF XELDRATH
A fractured world of divine barriers, broken empires, demon thrones, sacred cities, and frontiers where myth still walks in the flesh.

DESCRIPTION
The Spire of Solaris stands at the exact northern pole of Xeldrath, a colossal cathedral-city spiraling upward from marble foundations older than most kingdoms.
Its golden towers glow faintly with divine magic, reflecting the ever-changing colors of the moons above. Wide marble streets, bridges, sanctums, palaces, offices, and ceremonial halls surround the central heights.
At the heart of the Spire rests the High Throne, vacant for nearly a millennium and bound to the ancient rite by which a new Sovereign may ascend.
THE HIGH THRONE
The High Throne stands within the Spire's inner sanctum. It has remained vacant for nearly a millennium and serves as the final destination of the Sovereign rite.
SOVEREIGN ASCENSION
A claimant must bring all four Shards of Dominion to the High Throne. The Shards are placed into the throne's star-pattern receptacles before the claimant sits.
Possessing fewer than all four Shards does not complete the Sovereign rite. The High Throne is the culmination point of the process, not a substitute for the missing Shards.
THE FOUR SHARDS
The throne contains four star-pattern receptacles corresponding to the complete set of Shards of Dominion required by the rite.

INNER SANCTUM
Hawke rules from within the Spire's inner sanctum. The most politically and ceremonially important rooms of the cathedral-city are concentrated around these secured halls.
Hawke conducts Hegemony rule from within the Spire, surrounded by royal administration and ceremonial authority.
Elite servants, attendants, guards, clerks, and functionaries maintain the vast ceremonial complex.
Entering the Spire does not automatically grant access to the High Throne, private sanctums, archives, or royal chambers.
PALACE LIFE
Aristocratic families, courtiers, envoys, and political households maintain a strong presence around the palace.
Religious personnel oversee ceremonial traditions, divine spaces, processions, and sacred observances.
Elite military guards maintain palace security, escort officials, and protect sensitive sanctums.
Clerks, ministers, officials, and staff support the political machinery of the Solar Hegemony.
CEREMONIAL CITY
Ceremonial routes through the marble streets may close or redirect ordinary movement during important observances.
Templars and soldiers are common in major streets, palace approaches, bridges, and administrative districts.
Moonlight colors the ceremonies of a court that hopes to restore the lost sun. Clergy tend lamps and lead observances while changing moon alignments alter the magic beyond the sanctums.
VAULTS OF THE AGE OF SUNS
Rumors circulate about secret vaults beneath the throne room containing relics from the lost Age of Suns.
The existence and contents of hidden chambers beneath the throne room remain matters of rumor.
Stories claim artifacts from the lost age may remain preserved beneath the central sanctum.
Rumor should not be treated as confirmation that any particular relic or hidden chamber currently exists.
ACCESS TIERS
Marble streets, civic areas, religious spaces, and ordinary administrative districts form the accessible city.
Royal and governmental halls require greater authority, invitation, purpose, or institutional access.
Hawke's private political and ceremonial spaces are heavily controlled.
The throne chamber is the sacred culmination of the Sovereign rite and should not be treated as ordinary palace space.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Hawke Solari rules from the inner sanctum, balancing petitions, military reports, and the failing barrier. He holds Sol and sends agents after the remaining Shards, intending to claim the High Throne himself. An audience competes with the demands of a world running out of time.
The palace's patient, quietly firm head maid keeps Eda's household running: staff, supplies, guest access, and the small comforts court life takes for granted. Visitors receive courtesy, clean towels, and practical boundaries; even a royal whim may meet a gentle refusal.
The Solaris Church's revered Holy Mother tends the shrine, offers healing, and quietly helps the royal household. Her long vigil is for the Unbound: after meeting them, she leaves her church office to accompany them. Her devotion may put her hopes for Dominion at odds with Hawke's.
Raised amid the Spire's luxury, Hawke's daughter expects deference, impeccable service, and her father's attention. Invitations and introductions become contests of status, especially when Yami is present. Eda assumes Hawke will preserve her future; the approaching deadline tests that confidence.
At the Spire to represent the wealthy Sukehiro clan and meet the Unbound, her expected future spouse. Yami challenges Eda over precedence and influence, weighing manners and competence with an exacting eye. Family connections can open introductions or secure supplies, but every favor carries obligations.
Ryon and his traveling companions may return for a briefing, report, or resupply between Shard expeditions; their arrival depends on the journey underway. Omega may seek an official interview or palace access, subject to household restrictions. Personal meetings with the Unbound stay off-camera.
DESCRIPTION
The Halo Bastion forms a massive fortress-ring along the inner boundary of the divine barrier surrounding the Spire of Solaris and the protected Hegemony interior.
Thousands of radiant pylons anchor the magical shield into the fabric of reality. Reinforced walls, glowing sigils, battlements, gates, and military towers stretch for miles.
Life along the Bastion is entirely militarized. Templars, battlemages, engineers, supply crews, scouts, and soldiers maintain constant readiness against threats beyond the barrier.
DIVINE BARRIER
PYLON NETWORK
Hawke channels Sol from the Spire to reinforce the barrier; the Bastion's radiant pylons anchor it around the protected interior. Engineers, mages, and guards maintain that network continuously. Damage can weaken a local section, while a successful repair buys time against the wider collapse.
Each pylon helps stabilize the shield and bind its magical structure to a specific section of the Bastion.
Engineers, artificers, battlemages, and attendants inspect sigils, conduits, foundations, and magical flow.
Important pylons are protected by permanent defensive positions rather than being left as isolated magical structures.
BLACK-LIGHT CORRUPTION
Recently, some barrier pylons have begun flickering with unsettling black light. The phenomenon is not considered normal maintenance failure and may indicate corruption affecting the barrier from beyond.
Affected pylons intermittently produce dark pulses where radiant light should remain stable.
The source has not been established. Corruption from outside the shield is suspected but should not be treated as confirmed fact.
Any unstable pylon is a strategic emergency because localized failures could compromise nearby defenses.
MILITARIZED LIFE
Soldiers and battlemages train continually because attacks may occur along any exposed sector of the ring.
Wall posts, gates, pylons, towers, and signal stations remain continuously staffed.
Demonic incursions can rapidly turn ordinary watches into violent skirmishes along the outer defenses.
WALL SECTORS
The Halo Bastion is an enormous ring rather than a single point on the map. When establishing a scene or journey, identify the relevant wall sector, gate, or guarded passage.
GATES & PASSAGE
Normal travel between the protected interior and exterior routes passes through controlled gates and checkpoints.
Military corridors, supply routes, and authorized passages connect Bastion infrastructure across sectors.
A physical breach is a specific compromised section. Separately, the weakening magical barrier lets MAJOR characters slip through during the opening 72–48 hours and CHAMPIONS during 48–24 hours. Magical passage does not remove the stone walls, guards, or travel time.
Specify a wall sector or gate when crossing Halo Bastion. Reaching the wall does not automatically place a traveler on the opposite side of the divine barrier.
PROTECTED INTERIOR
Halo Bastion encloses the Spire of Solaris and the five major Hegemony sites surrounding it. Interior roads connect these protected settlements without requiring travelers to cross the barrier.
DEFENSIVE INCIDENTS
Demonic forces occasionally test the barrier, gates, pylon defenses, or isolated wall sectors.
Mechanical, magical, or corruptive damage to a pylon can trigger emergency reinforcement of the affected sector.
Active threats can close a particular gate and strand a convoy or evacuation column. During the 24–6 hours remaining stage, the divine barrier falls and demons invade unless the Unbound saves it in time; the walls and defenders must then face the assault directly.

Usually found on the barrier approaches, shielding repair crews or keeping an evacuation lane open. Yusha checks exits and exhausted guards before making speeches; useful help earns more regard than applause. Her directional shield can buy time at a threatened position, but she cannot replace the great barrier. She coordinates with local guards and remains here when the Heroes Party moves on.
The Heroes Party may pass through a guarded sector during its Shard expedition or assist a local defense when its route allows. Ryon remembers Yusha holding an escape route that saved his life. Aoi can coordinate magical support, Kynta brings firepower, and Coru intercepts threats at close range; none is permanently stationed at the wall.
DESCRIPTION
The Iron Parliament of Thalos is a massive industrial metropolis where political alliances are forged, broken, and reforged daily.
Its central council chamber occupies a fortress-like structure of dark iron and reinforced stone, looming over districts filled with diplomats, mercenaries, spies, envoys, and political entourages.
Public debate is treated almost as spectacle, while covert agreements, influence campaigns, espionage, and assassination attempts unfold behind closed doors.
THE IRON PARLIAMENT
THE MELTED FLOOR
The floor of the central council chamber was forged from weapons recovered after the War of Ash, melted down and recast beneath the feet of the delegates who now argue over peace, war, territory, and power.
Swords, spearheads, armor fittings, and other recovered weapons were melted into the chamber floor.
Every formal debate takes place literally atop the remains of weapons from the previous age of catastrophic war.
The chamber deliberately ties modern political decisions to the consequences of the War of Ash.
POLITICAL THEATER
Public sessions are political performances as much as legislative proceedings. Reputation, rhetoric, visible alliances, and carefully staged confrontation all influence the room.
Speeches, accusations, proposals, and rival delegations may turn council proceedings into public spectacles.
Who arrives together, sits together, speaks in support, or refuses recognition can carry political meaning.
Political actors may deliberately stage confrontations or displays of unity for observers beyond the chamber.
INFLUENCE & INTRIGUE
Nearly every major faction with an interest in Hegemony policy attempts to maintain agents, contacts, observers, or leverage somewhere within Thalos.
Intelligence gathering surrounds delegations, negotiations, private offices, correspondence, and visitors.
High-value political figures may attract covert attacks, though obvious violence risks major diplomatic consequences.
Agreements reached in offices, salons, secure chambers, and private dinners may matter more than formal speeches.
Schedules, voting intentions, private disputes, debts, favors, and factional fractures all have value here.
POLITICAL POPULATION
Formal representatives negotiating policy, agreements, disputes, and access.
Temporary representatives carrying proposals, demands, warnings, or private instructions.
Agents operating beneath diplomatic, commercial, military, or civilian identities.
Escorts, hired protection, investigators, intermediaries, and contract specialists.
SECURITY & ACCESS
Visitors may enter civic, commercial, lodging, and public-facing political areas without gaining access to secure government chambers.
Council chambers, delegation areas, archives, and offices may require credentials, invitations, or sponsorship.
Private negotiations may take place in controlled rooms deliberately separated from public debate spaces.

An Arcanum student and gifted gravity mage from a wealthy merchant family, Victoria fits easily among Thalos's fashionable receptions and public spectacles. She wants to prove her talents matter beyond campus, though attention and social victories remain tempting. A family-linked visit can bring her into the political district; wealth and charisma still leave secure doors to negotiate.
A missing witness, suspicious death, or disputed account can bring the renowned private detective to Thalos. Nicholas follows testimony, timelines, and surviving magical traces through a city where every version of events serves someone. A commission or credible lead explains the visit; even a celebrated investigator needs access and evidence.
Escort contracts and the search for allies can bring Steffany and a small contingent of her island warriors to the negotiating table. She bargains for supplies, security, and her people's future while pursuing her own claim to Dominion. Her royal bearing carries conviction, but recognition and political backing must still be earned.
DESCRIPTION
Deep beneath sacred temples lies the Reliquary of Ash Saints, a vast underground labyrinth containing relics from legendary demon-slayers.
Its chambers are lined with sealed vaults holding weapons, bones, ashes, and artifacts believed to retain immense holy power. Some relics are said to be too dangerous to destroy, making continued containment a duty as urgent as preservation. The air carries the faint scent of incense and ancient ash.
Clergy and holy guardians maintain strict custody over the underground halls. The deeper the vault, the more restricted its contents and the fewer people permitted to approach them.
SACRED VAULTS
ACCESS & CUSTODY
Visitors first reach the temple complex above the Reliquary. Entry below begins through guarded religious spaces.
Clergy, authorized attendants, and approved officials may have access to selected halls and lesser collections.
The deepest chambers are reserved for high-ranking Solar Hegemony personnel and specifically authorized clergy.
Entry into one portion of the temple or Reliquary does not grant unrestricted access to deeper vaults, sealed collections, saint remains, or protected weapons.
HOLY GUARDIANS
Priests catalog relics, maintain rites, oversee visitation, and preserve the spiritual traditions surrounding the dead.
Holy guardians protect entrances, processions, vault corridors, and particularly dangerous collections.
Physical locks are supplemented by sacred seals, magical wards, records, and controlled routes through the complex.
ASH WHISPERS
During certain moon alignments, priests claim the ashes preserved within the Reliquary begin to whisper warnings concerning future catastrophes.
The phenomenon is associated with particular celestial arrangements rather than occurring continuously.
Clergy interpret the voices as warnings, but meaning, timing, and reliability may require ritual interpretation.
The prophetic tradition is associated with the preserved remains housed throughout the underground vaults.
SHARD RECORD
Some traditions claim that one of the Shards of Dominion passed through the Reliquary centuries ago. The surviving claim does not by itself establish that a Shard remains within the vaults today.
Records, testimonies, saint traditions, or sealed archives may contain traces of the alleged passage.
A historical connection should not be treated as proof that a Shard is currently stored inside the Reliquary.
DESCENT STRUCTURE
The underground complex cannot be reached directly from the surrounding countryside without first reaching its temple.
Doors, checkpoints, custodians, and rites divide the public religious complex from restricted vault spaces.
Once below, internal corridors, vault divisions, and controlled passages determine movement through the Reliquary.
ENCOUNTERS
LOCAL CUSTODIANS
The senior cleric keeps the inventories, authorizes permitted inspections, and answers for every opened seal. Requests to arm the living with the saints' weapons meet careful scrutiny: some treasures are contained because even destroying them may be dangerous. A missing entry or broken chain of custody can matter more than a visitor's impressive title.
A patient cleric records the exact words heard beneath each moon alignment, separating testimony from interpretation. Conflicting accounts invite comparison with older records, not an immediate pronouncement of fate. Visitors may be asked to witness a vigil, find a damaged transcript, or help distinguish a warning from an echo of the past.
A veteran guardian checks escorts, seals, and routes before allowing a party below. The duty is to protect both the collection and the people handling it. A disturbed ward may force a hard choice between sealing a corridor and reaching attendants trapped inside; dependable help earns trust through action.
DESCRIPTION
Auridel is a massive trade city illuminated by thousands of floating lanterns filled with sacred oil.
The glowing lights drift gently above crowded marketplaces and winding streets, giving the entire city a dreamlike atmosphere beneath the shifting moons.
Pilgrims, merchants, mercenaries, and travelers from every corner of Xeldrath gather here to trade goods, seek passage, exchange information, and enter the protected interior.
THE LANTERN CITY
TRADE & PILGRIMAGE
Goods from across Xeldrath pass through Auridel’s markets, warehouses, river landings, and caravan yards.
Religious travelers and refugees may use Auridel as a staging point before continuing deeper into the Hegemony.
Escorts, guards, adventurers, and contract fighters gather where trade produces both money and danger.
Travelers make the city a natural clearinghouse for news, rumors, prices, routes, and political gossip.
UNDERWORLD EXCHANGE
Beneath Auridel’s beautiful public markets operates a thriving black market where prohibited goods and politically dangerous artifacts circulate quietly.
Objects connected to demons, battlefields, cults, or forbidden sites may change hands through discreet buyers.
Restricted grimoires, components, enchantments, magical services, and experimental materials circulate quietly.
Unusual relics may enter Auridel through legitimate trade before disappearing into private collections or criminal hands.
VANCINI NETWORK
Sebastienne Vancini bases the Vancini Syndicate in Auridel. Its legitimate fronts, warehouses, employees, and private contacts support smuggling through the city and the southwestern gates.
Legitimate shops, services, and commercial operations provide cover for less-visible Syndicate activity.
Cargo storage and legitimate trade infrastructure allow goods to be concealed, redirected, or quietly exchanged.
Dockworkers, gate contacts, merchants, couriers, officials, and intermediaries help move people or goods.
Smuggling routes exploit the heavy legitimate traffic moving between Auridel and the southwestern exterior.
ROUTE CONSTRAINTS
Bridges, ferries, quays, and established crossings shape east-west travel through the city corridor.
Leaving the protected interior requires actual passage through Halo Bastion rather than simply traveling south or west.
Commercial traffic, inspections, pilgrim flows, and security can slow or redirect movement through gates.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Boss Sebas runs the Vancini Syndicate from Auridel's fronts, warehouses, and safehouses. She trades protection, passage, and information for concrete commitments, rewarding reliable people and remembering betrayal. Keeping her routes open and her people alive matters as much as securing a place in the coming order. Even her money cannot guarantee a clear gate or a truthful report.
The wealthy Valerius daughter is sometimes seen in Auridel, close to her studies at the Solari Arcanum. Markets and fashionable company suit her taste for attention, but the crisis gives her reasons to put her gravity magic to practical use. She is a talented student with family advantages, rather than the head of the city's trade.
The withdrawn former Arcanum researcher lives with her cat Null in a reclaimed ruin outside Auridel. Supplies and occasional commissions connect her to the city; a specific errand may bring her in, while a workshop visit requires finding the route. Ink, components, and a worthwhile technical problem make better introductions than institutional prestige.
Stolen artifacts, disputed cargo, or a credible lead can bring the private detective through Auridel's markets. Nicholas bargains warily with Sebastienne and occasionally commissions devices from Shiori. Those contacts provide openings, not ready-made answers: witnesses, ledgers, and surviving traces must still agree.
DESCRIPTION
Skyfall Crater marks the site where a glowing celestial object crashed into Xeldrath centuries ago.
The impact carved a massive bowl-shaped valley filled with strange crystalline formations and unstable gravitational distortions.
Scholars and treasure hunters believe fragments of the fallen object remain buried beneath the crater floor, attracting researchers despite the area’s dangerous mana anomalies.
CELESTIAL IMPACT
GRAVITY DISTORTION
The crater’s gravitational behavior is unreliable. Distortions vary across the basin and complicate both travel and attempts to descend from the surrounding mountain rim.
Certain zones may reduce weight enough for debris, stones, or travelers to move unnaturally easily.
Local distortions can draw loose objects away from the ground or suspend fragments above the crater floor.
A stable stretch may behave differently nearby, making momentum and footing dangerous to assume.
CRYSTALLINE FIELD
Vast crystalline structures rise from the impact basin, many carrying unusual magical resonance.
Scholars suspect deeper material from the celestial object remains sealed beneath the crater floor.
Not every formation behaves like ordinary mineral crystal, making extraction and experimentation unpredictable.
MANA ANOMALIES
Crystal formations may release sudden magical pulses or react unpredictably to nearby spellcasting.
Distance, orientation, and movement may become difficult to judge around stronger anomaly zones.
Instruments, magical senses, and precision spellwork may become unreliable near active celestial remnants.
EXPEDITION PROTOCOL
Reaching the rim does not automatically place travelers safely on the crater floor. A viable route down must be found.
Known stable sections are valuable reference points when gravitational conditions become inconsistent.
Valuable fragments are not necessarily safe to move. Disturbing a formation may alter nearby magical conditions.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Felix studies the ancient crystalline basin after arriving on Xeldrath only a week ago. His larger purpose is personal: finding companions to leave this world with. Useful introductions interest him more than local titles or the struggle for Dominion. His extraordinary crystal magic can answer an immediate obstacle, but neither researchers nor stranded expeditions can assume he will take up their cause.
LOCAL EXPEDITIONS
A field researcher marks tested footholds, compares instrument readings, and records how formations respond to nearby magic. Reaching a buried deposit means little without a way to document and remove it safely. A missing marker or contradictory reading can turn a routine survey into a request for witnesses, protection, or help recovering equipment.
An expedition leader weighs promising fragments against rope, provisions, and the route home. Rival claims and impatient buyers encourage risky shortcuts, especially as time runs short. A crew stranded on a drifting shelf may need to abandon its prize; helping them can earn practical route knowledge, though conditions may change again.
HISTORICAL NOTE
Skyfall Crater and its celestial impact predate Felix's arrival in Xeldrath by centuries. He is investigating an existing phenomenon; his recent crash did not create this basin, its native crystals, or its longstanding anomalies.
DESCRIPTION
The Whispering Markets are a sprawling labyrinth of tents, wooden stalls, and crooked alleyways built near several unstable leyline crossings.
Magical energy constantly crackles through the air, giving the market its name as strange whispers sometimes echo through the wind.
Information is the market’s most valuable commodity. Rumors about the Shards of Dominion circulate constantly among merchants, spies, adventurers, and opportunists.
NEUTRAL GROUND
Unlike most of Xeldrath, the markets function as neutral ground. Hostile factions may occupy the same street without immediately turning the bazaar into a battlefield.
Rival factions mingle cautiously because trade, intelligence, and access to the bazaar are valuable. Suspicion remains constant even when open violence does not.
INFORMATION ECONOMY
News, speculation, lies, sightings, and half-true stories move quickly between stalls and drinking tents.
Verified troop movements, travel conditions, political changes, or identities may command serious prices.
Knowing who can arrange a meeting, provide passage, identify a buyer, or locate a specialist can be more useful than possessing coin.
Claims involving the Shards of Dominion circulate constantly, though authenticity varies wildly.
SHIFTING BAZAAR
The market remains in the same regional location, but its internal arrangement constantly changes as merchants move tents, expand stalls, abandon pitches, or occupy better ground.
A particular vendor may occupy a different lane, courtyard, terrace, or tent row on another visit.
Temporary construction and crowded stalls can alter pedestrian routes without relocating the market itself.
The Whispering Markets remain geographically anchored in the southwest exterior even as their internal layout shifts.
LEYLINE CROSSINGS
Magical energy frequently manifests as light, static, humming air, or brief discharges around the market.
Strange voices sometimes seem to ride the wind near unstable crossings, though their source is rarely clear.
Sensitive magic, divination, enchanted objects, or perception may behave strangely near active leyline points.
TRADE & SERVICES
Magical components, relics, unusual imports, contraband, salvage, and specialized equipment may appear here.
Smuggling, forgery, introductions, quiet transport, information work, and other less-public services can be arranged.
Mercenaries, investigators, guides, interpreters, mages, and specialists may be available for temporary contracts.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
The private detective follows witnesses, disputed sightings, and artifact leads through the bazaar's competing accounts. Nicholas buys useful introductions and tests claims against evidence; a crowded rumor market supplies possibilities, not certainty. A current case determines which stalls and contacts deserve attention.
Shuroud rents workbenches in the Markets, turning paid scouting and Legion assignments into ingredients, experiments, and another stretch of secure lodging. Her confident sales pitch comes with quick exits and a finite belt of prepared tricks. She wants money and recognition, but dangerous clients and the consequences of her work can reach her even here.
Trixie passes between frontier camps, the Markets, and busy roads, trading scouting, diversions, and local magical knowledge for supplies and access. Gossip and unusual magic catch her interest; poor bargains rarely hold her loyalty. She enjoys seeking out Shuroud, whose enthusiasm for that attention is considerably smaller.
DESCRIPTION
Sel-Vareth is a vast desert where ancient magical catastrophes fused the sand into endless sheets of black glass.
The mirrored surface reflects the moons in distorted patterns, creating eerie displays of light across the horizon.
Few permanent settlements exist here. Wandering mages, hermits, and researchers occasionally cross the desert to study the strange magical phenomena moving beneath the glass.
GLASS TERRAIN
TRAVEL CONDITIONS
Jagged formations, broken shelves, and razor-edged upheavals make apparently direct shortcuts hazardous.
Open terrain offers little protection from weather, magical disturbance, or anything observing from afar.
Established trails between the market routes and desert margins are safer than cutting directly across unknown glass.
MANA PHENOMENA
Magical activity continues beneath the fused surface. Travelers may observe ripples of light, distorted reflections, or other arcane effects moving below seemingly solid glass.
Strange movement beneath the surface can resemble currents, distant lightning, or something passing below the glass.
Magical storms can make exposed routes dangerous and distort otherwise reliable visual references.
Moonlight and distant magical effects can multiply across the reflective terrain and confuse distance or direction.
DESERT PRESENCE
Permanent communities are rare. Most people encountered within Sel-Vareth are temporary visitors, solitary residents, researchers, or travelers moving between established margins.
Independent practitioners cross the glass to observe storms, anomalies, and magical behavior beneath the surface.
Reclusive residents occasionally establish temporary shelters near comparatively stable sections of terrain.
Researchers may mark storm activity, glass fractures, or anomalous magical movements before moving on.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Shiori occasionally leaves her workshop outside Auridel to test prepared spells and study the desert's anomalies. She travels on foot with carefully packed supplies; a field experiment has a purpose, a cost, and a route home. Patient help with observations or equipment may earn a warmer reception than grand claims about her power. Her cat Null is a companion to protect, not expendable testing equipment.
DESERT CONTACTS
A solitary traveler shelters near a comparatively stable stretch, remembering which ridges conceal cavities and where an old trail last crossed safely. Supplies or practical help may buy guidance. Familiarity covers a limited patch of desert, and fresh fractures or storms can still overturn yesterday's advice.
A visiting researcher marks fractures and compares subglass light patterns against moon positions and storm reports. Missing markers, reflected signals, and inconsistent readings make a second observer valuable. Retrieving a probe or locating an overdue assistant may become more urgent than completing the survey.
DESCRIPTION
The Ashen Wastes form the primary territory of the Demons. The land itself appears burned and cracked from centuries of demonic influence and leyline ruptures.
Ash storms frequently sweep across the plains while the sky flickers with unstable magical lightning.
Demonic fortresses and war camps dot the landscape, each commanded by different warlords loyal to the Legion.
DEMON WARFRONT
ASH & LEYLINE CONDITIONS
Heavy ash can obscure landmarks, reduce visibility, bury tracks, and complicate movement between fortified sites.
Ruptured magical currents produce unstable flashes and violent atmospheric phenomena across the frontier.
Centuries of demonic occupation and magical damage have left much of the terrain cracked, scorched, and hostile.
WAR CAMP NETWORK
The Wastes are not governed from one continuous settlement. Fortresses, command posts, mustering fields, and temporary camps occupy the scorched routes between major frontier sites.
Heavily fortified sites coordinate troop movements, communications, logistics, and regional campaigns.
Regional warlords maintain their own troops, banners, and ambitions under Nicolo's overall command. Orders travel through officers and couriers; competing interests can delay or distort their execution.
Large open stretches are used for assembling troops, beasts, siege engines, and supply columns.
ROUTE CONDITIONS
The most reliable routes are often those maintained between Legion strongholds, camps, and supply positions.
Storms may hide road markers, camp banners, patrols, and even nearby fortifications.
Active ruptures and magical storms can force travelers away from otherwise direct routes.

The Legion's Supreme Commander directs campaigns, officers, and supply priorities from fortified frontier headquarters. Nicolo demands precise reports and concrete results while pursuing the Shards for his own ascent. His plans depend on delivered orders and fallible intelligence; even he must bargain for Rosalind's cooperation.
Rosalind moves between the Wastes, demon court, and battles that catch her interest. The Legion's strongest fighter enjoys spectacle and acts on her own priorities. Nicolo can propose a tempting target, but her arrival, cooperation, and restraint are never his to guarantee.
Nicolo's devoted protector watches approaches, exits, and firing lanes with few words. He may accompany the commander or carry out a specific assignment, but his standing priority is Nicolo's survival. Serious danger calls for interception or extraction, not a theatrical last stand.
Nicolo's wife and intelligence chief handles espionage, interrogation, and the agents feeding his campaigns. At a command post she can receive reports, question an inconsistency, or arrange a covert assignment. Her warm manner serves calculated interests; an audience does not mean trust.
Based in the Whispering Markets, Shuroud comes to the frontier when scouting, sabotage, deliveries, or reporting require it. Legion pay supports her alchemical work, while dangerous superiors make reliable results a matter of survival. Prepared tricks and a planned exit matter more to her than battlefield glory.
Trixie moves among frontier camps and market routes, trading scouting, diversions, and local magical knowledge for supplies and access. She follows advantage more readily than ideology. A current contract or promising contact explains her presence; she is no permanent member of Nicolo's headquarters staff.
DESCRIPTION
The Screaming Scar is a colossal canyon that predates the War of Ash. The first great demon surge emerged here in Year 12 after the Shattering; the war began in Year 38 and left its own scars across the region.
Violent winds howl constantly through jagged rock formations, producing eerie sounds that resemble distant screams.
The canyon depths are saturated with corrupted mana, making the Scar a breeding ground for undead creatures, demonic entities, and phenomena shaped by the ancient war.
THE WORLD-WOUND
CORRUPTED DEPTHS
The deepest portions of the Scar contain exceptionally concentrated corrupted mana capable of affecting living creatures, corpses, magic, and surrounding terrain.
Demons are rumored to emerge directly from the Scar, as if corruption can form living bodies from the wounded substance of the world itself.
Corpses, ancient battle remains, and newly fallen victims provide abundant material for undead activity throughout the canyon.
THE SCREAMING WINDS
Wind is a constant feature of the Scar. Air forced through broken stone, ravines, arches, and canyon channels produces the region’s characteristic screaming sound.
Exposed ledges, bridges, and cliff paths may become dangerous when strong gusts move through the canyon.
Echoes make distance and direction difficult to judge, particularly when screams, creatures, and wind overlap.
Travelers may mistake wind noise for cries, commands, distant companions, or other signs of life.
TRAVEL & CROSSINGS
The Scar is not simply a dangerous region crossed by an ordinary road. The chasm physically interrupts direct overland travel across the eastern frontier.
Following the rim avoids the deepest corruption but may require long detours around branching chasms.
Bridges, intact ancient spans, narrow shelves, magic, flight, or other established means may permit a direct crossing.
Descending into the Scar exposes travelers to stronger corruption, unstable paths, hostile creatures, and limited exits.
ESKANDER'S HARVEST
Eskander Rakkot keeps ritual sites and harvest operations around the Scar. Recovered remains supply repairs and replacements for his existing undead host; valuable individuals require far more preparation than ordinary skeletal troops.
Old and newly fallen bodies provide material for necromantic experimentation and reanimation.
The Scar’s ambient mana makes the region unusually suitable for necromantic activity.
Recoverable remains may be repaired or reused, requiring work and resources. Restoring a powerful individual needs suitable remains, a reachable soul, and costly ritual work; preserved will can resist control. Destroyed troops do not replenish themselves automatically.

A weathered guide knows a particular stretch of rim, its recent rockfalls, and the last crossing reported intact. Wind direction and fresh damage can change that advice within hours. Escorting a small group may be possible where moving a wagon is not; a promised crossing still needs inspection.
A local raider watches a usable span or narrow approach, seeking supplies and advantage over passing groups. The canyon offers concealment but also cuts off retreat. Bargaining, distraction, or exposing a rival threat may change the encounter; command and loyalties must be learned rather than assumed.
DESCRIPTION
The Hegemony’s college of magic houses classrooms, practice grounds, libraries, and research workshops. Sonja teaches here; Victoria studies here.
Students and staff balance ordinary lessons, experiments, supervised combat training, and academic work with the growing demands of emergency preparation.
The Arcanum is an institution as much as a physical place. Access depends on role, authorization, and standing within the college rather than simple acquaintance with one student.
CAMPUS FUNCTIONS
PRACTICE & RESEARCH
Practice grounds support controlled sparring, spellcasting exercises, and combat instruction under supervision.
Classrooms and libraries support formal study, magical theory, historical research, and scholarly work.
Specialized spaces support experiments and projects requiring equipment, controlled conditions, or restricted materials.
ACCESS & STANDING
Ordinary college areas may be accessible to students, staff, approved visitors, and people with legitimate business.
Faculty rank, enrollment, sponsorship, authorization, and reputation affect where someone may go and what they may request.
Laboratories, specialized archives, and controlled research spaces may require explicit permission.
Knowing one student or faculty member does not grant unrestricted access to every classroom, archive, laboratory, or workshop in the Arcanum.
RITE PREPARATIONS
During the Rite, the Arcanum’s academic routines increasingly overlap with emergency logistics. Faculty and staff help prepare the campus for disruption rather than abandoning its educational role.
Staff organize magical materials, food, medical goods, equipment, and other emergency resources.
Suitable campus spaces may be reorganized to support students, staff, and displaced people during emergencies.
Routes, personnel, and responsibilities are prepared in case normal campus activity becomes impossible.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Sonja Nojas teaches Crystal Magic and Combat Theory, demanding sound judgment as well as impressive casting. She helps organize shelter, defenses, and evacuation while still making time for struggling students. Her sharp corrections serve their survival. The students' nickname 'Bunny Dean' does not make her the college's administrator.
Victoria Valerius is a gifted gravity mage, wealthy merchant daughter, and captain of the Luminous cheer squad. Popularity and performance come easily; responsible use of power takes more work. As the Rite approaches, she wants to prove she can contribute beyond campus acclaim, even when Sonja's expectations bruise her pride.
Sonja's former star student now travels with the Heroes Party. A visit for research or consultation must fit the expedition's route and duties. Sonja still sends pointed casting advice; Aoi's experience can make her a useful collaborator without giving her unrestricted control over college resources.
The former researcher and teacher withdrew to a workshop outside Auridel after disastrous demonstrations and dismissal. Sonja defended her, but they have since lost contact. A concrete invitation, useful commission, or attempt to reconnect could bring her back; institutional appeals alone are unlikely to repair that trust.
DESCRIPTION
A traveled route carrying a shifting population of wagons, tents, refugees, merchants, and traveling guilds. Its mobile camps create the impression of a wandering city.
Caravans move along the corridor, choosing camps and detours around local hazards and leyline disturbances.
Travelers exchange supplies, labor, information, and rumors at stopping places. The population shifts constantly while the underlying route remains geographically anchored.
MOVING POPULATION
LEYLINE CONDITIONS
Unstable leyline activity can force caravans away from their preferred route or camping grounds.
Local hazards can move a convoy onto temporary side routes without changing the road’s overall corridor.
Safer stretches become temporary markets, repair stations, kitchens, work yards, and rumor exchanges.
ROAD ECONOMY
Food, medicine, tools, spare parts, clothing, and travel necessities change hands at temporary stops.
Guards, guides, laborers, artisans, drivers, healers, and couriers can find temporary employment.
News moves quickly between caravans, although accuracy often deteriorates with every camp it passes through.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Lico travels with her younger sister Fiora, fighting demons and helping people they can realistically protect. A shared stretch of road or an escort arrangement can bring her into a convoy's life. She checks routes and supplies, offers calm practical help, and relies on practiced teamwork rather than limitless wind magic.
Fiora stays close to Lico, meeting danger with a heavy wind-driven sword and strangers with protective questions. Around a caravan she can help cover an exposed approach while her sister shapes openings. Their strength depends on staying coordinated; neither can protect every scattered wagon at once.
Escort work helps sustain Steffany's small enclave of loyal island warriors. A negotiated job can bring her to a particular convoy, where she checks provisions, respects clear commitments, and weighs risks against her people's survival. The contract defines her presence and responsibilities; she does not command all traffic along the road.
DESCRIPTION
Dense forest, streams, waterfalls, and secluded groves shelter wildlife and travelers.
Rozzie tends a secluded grove and its creatures as a gentle druidic keeper, helping injured visitors when needed.
The forest lies outside the divine barrier. As the storms worsen, those who live here depend on terrain, local protection, established paths, and their own judgment.
FOREST CHARACTER
WOODLAND TRAVEL
Familiar footpaths provide the safest connections between the forest edge, groves, streams, and springs.
Residents and experienced travelers can identify safer routes through dense canopy and uneven ground.
Dense roots, narrow paths, streams, and elevation changes make wagon travel unreliable away from the main approaches.
OUTSIDE THE DIVINE BARRIER
The Deep Woods lie beyond Halo Bastion’s protected interior. Its inhabitants do not receive the same security as the settlements inside the barrier.
Dense woodland conceals paths, homes, and refuges from travelers unfamiliar with the region.
Keepers, residents, wildlife, and local alliances provide protection where imperial walls do not.
As conditions worsen, travelers must decide when a path, storm, stranger, or refuge is safe enough to trust.
SECLUDED GROVES
Quiet clearings provide refuge for injured animals, travelers, and inhabitants avoiding more dangerous routes.
Small homes, stores, and hidden shelters may be integrated directly into old trees and natural terrain.
Open groves beneath the canopy may serve as meeting places, ritual spaces, or natural landmarks.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Rozaline Four tends seedlings, clears streams, cares for animals, and shares quiet company in her secluded grove. Her gentleness comes with patient resolve when living things are threatened. She can mend modest wounds or stabilize a serious injury, but difficult healing strains both her and nearby plants; larger emergencies may require Lucy's help.
Lucy receives patients at Threshold Spring in the southern woods. She and Rozzie exchange herbs, warnings, and friendly visits along familiar paths. Seeking her help means reaching the shrine or arranging a message and transport; she is not automatically present whenever someone is hurt elsewhere in the forest.
Lico shares peaceful company with Rozzie, and Fiora is known through her sister. A visit or a journey through the woods can bring the pair to the grove, where rest and small practical tasks offer a pause from demon-fighting. Their current route and duties determine when they arrive; they are not permanent guards of the forest.
DESCRIPTION
Lucy’s shrine and bathhouse stands over a Prime Mana-Node among pools and waterfalls. Wounded travelers seek healing and shelter here.
Within the connected pools, Lucy can restore catastrophic injuries and revive recently dead patients whose recoverable bodies and reachable souls are brought to her. Transport and treatment consume time.
The shrine occupies a secluded forest clearing rather than a city street. Baths, treatment spaces, and guest shelter serve travelers arriving from woodland roads.
PRIME MANA-NODE
HEALING PROTOCOL
Catastrophic injuries can be treated within the connected healing pools under Lucy’s care.
Revival is possible only when the deceased is recent, the body remains recoverable, and the soul can still be reached.
A patient still has to be physically brought to the shrine; distance and travel time remain meaningful.
Arrival does not make treatment instantaneous. Recovery and revival still consume meaningful time.
Complete bodily destruction or an annihilated soul prevents revival. Water carried away from the connected pools loses the node’s restorative power. Interrupted treatment or damage to the spring can defeat recovery; the Dominion countdown continues.
SHRINE FACILITIES
ARRIVAL PRIORITIES
Severely wounded patients still need to survive the woodland journey long enough to reach Lucy.
For revival attempts, recoverable remains must be brought to the shrine rather than assumed to appear there.
Rescue, transport, examination, treatment, and recovery all take place over real elapsed time.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
The nine-tailed keeper welcomes guests with warm food, clean bedding, playful affection, and practical care. Emergencies sharpen her voice into clear instructions for helpers. Lucy treats wounded people across faction lines and insists on peace around her patients; hospitality does not excuse endangering them. She values company that stays after the healing is done.
Rozzie visits from her secluded grove to exchange herbs, warnings, and quiet company. A serious injury beyond her own healing may prompt a request for Lucy's help. Familiar paths connect their homes, but moving a patient still takes time and willing hands. Lucy also encourages her gentle neighbor to accept some care herself.
Aoi trades herbs and playful artistic references with Lucy when her travels bring her to the spring. Their easy rapport can brighten a quiet visit, though the Heroes Party's expedition determines her availability. She is a guest and acquaintance, not a permanent shrine attendant.
DESCRIPTION
Island kingdoms and maritime routes form Steffany’s homeland. She fled a coup with a small enclave of loyal warriors and reached the mainland one year before the opening.
Harbors and island settlements connect by sea. Travel between communities depends on vessels, suitable flight, or another established means of crossing open water.
Ocean storms can disrupt crossings, isolate islands, delay arrivals, or force travelers toward unfamiliar landing points.
JOURNEY CONTINUITY
Identify which island a journey begins from rather than treating the entire archipelago as one location.
Choose the harbor, coast, or mainland landing point and keep that destination consistent afterward.
Mainland roads continue from the chosen landing point rather than automatically beginning at the Spire.
CROSSING CONDITIONS
The ordinary method for crossing between inhabited islands and mainland ports.
Flight can bypass normal sea lanes if the traveler can safely cover open-water distance.
Severe weather may alter departure times, force a different harbor, or prevent crossing entirely.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Steffany Anonari fled the coup with a small enclave of loyal warriors and reached the mainland one year before the opening. Escort work sustains them while she seeks allies and a path to Sovereignty, hoping to restore her homeland. Her connection to the Isles does not place her there now: a return requires a purpose, passage, and time.
ISLAND & EXILE CONTACTS
One of Steffany's surviving warriors remembers the flight from home, familiar landing places, and people left behind. Current island conditions need fresh reports. Serving with the mainland enclave, the veteran may prepare a return or accompany a specific mission; loyalty does not make losses or divided duties easy.
A sailor or harbor broker can help arrange a berth, pilot, cargo transfer, or discreet meeting at one particular island port. Their knowledge follows the ships and people they actually deal with. Allegiance, reliability, and willingness to assist an exile emerge through the encounter rather than coming with the introduction.
DESCRIPTION
A vast sea of black ash buries ruined kingdoms. Demonic vessels of bone and iron traverse its shifting dunes as buried structures surface and sink.
Ash channels and exposed ruins change with storms, forcing travelers to seek stable margins or specialized transport. Ordinary seagoing routes to the islands begin on the actual coast.
A safe approach should be established before entering a ruin exposed within the ash. What appears accessible now may be buried again before a traveler returns.
ASH NAVIGATION
BURIED RUINS
Storms can uncover towers, districts, roads, and entrances that were previously buried.
An entrance may remain clear for hours, days, or less before another ash movement seals it again.
Entering a ruin without securing the surrounding terrain risks being trapped beneath a new dune.
TRAVEL DISTINCTION
An inland basin of particulate ash crossed by specialized vessels and unstable surface routes.
Saltwater begins beyond the coastal rim; normal seagoing routes toward the Eastern Isles start there.
ENCOUNTERS
BASIN CONTACTS
A vessel commander bargains over passage, cargo, and how long the crew will wait beside an exposed ruin. Recent crossings inform the route, but storms can erase familiar channels. Saving the ship and its people may take priority over a passenger's unfinished excavation.
An explorer compares newly exposed masonry with records of earlier sightings, hoping to recover something before the ash returns. A visible entrance is an opportunity, not proof of a safe interior. Rival claims, missing companions, and the weight of recovered cargo can force difficult choices.
A local specialist tests approaches from comparatively stable ground, watching ash movement and marking a retreat. Knowledge covers particular stretches and recent conditions. A guide may refuse a crossing, request better equipment, or advise abandoning a find when the return route begins to disappear.
DESCRIPTION
A grotesque cathedral grown from living flesh and bone, where demons worship decay as a divine force. Its structure breathes like a sleeping creature.
Corrupted grounds surround entrances into living chambers. Mortals who enter risk transformation and hostile worshippers.
Paths north lead toward the prison maze, while southern approaches descend toward the unstable rim of the ash basin.
LIVING ARCHITECTURE
CORRUPTION HAZARDS
Prolonged exposure may cause physical changes, unwanted growth, or assimilation into local tissue.
Rooms may constrict, pulse, bleed, heal, or react to intrusion as parts of one larger organism.
Intruders may be treated as sacrifices, contaminants, converts, or raw material for sacred rites.
ENCOUNTERS
CA NECTIONS & LOCAL CULT
Larquin was held captive here before Nicolo freed him and arranged care. He later chose to serve as Nicolo's protector. That history does not place him back in the Cathedral or make him familiar with every chamber as it exists today; any return needs a current reason.
Nicolo rescued Larquin during his Legion career, beginning a bond strengthened through later service and shared danger. The rescue establishes a past intervention, not ownership of the Cathedral or allegiance to its worship. He now directs the Legion from frontier headquarters.
LOCAL CULT CONTACTS
A cult cleric reads changes in the breathing walls as omens, deciding which chambers pilgrims may enter and which rites should proceed. Rival interpretations can complicate an audience. Religious certainty does not guarantee correct knowledge of the Cathedral's every response.
A specialist tends altered tissue and prepares chambers for bodily rites. Worshippers may seek the work while captives fear it. Tools, access, preparation, and the living structure's reactions constrain the ritualist; disturbing the process may create an opening as well as danger.
A transformed visitor carries visible evidence of time spent within the Cathedral. What they remember, welcome, or regret emerges through conversation. They may know a particular rite or passage, but their experience does not establish what will happen to every new arrival.
DESCRIPTION
A shifting black-stone prison used by demon lords for enemies and failed champions. Some prisoners have survived inside for centuries and changed with their captivity.
The maze’s outer site stays fixed on the map while its internal corridors rearrange. Travel to the exterior is separate from finding a route through the prison.
Landmarks, guides, or discovered patterns can support an escape; an old route may become unreliable.
LABYRINTH BEHAVIOR
NAVIGATION NOTES
Stable or recurring features can anchor a route even while surrounding corridors change.
Long-term prisoners may recognize cycles or behaviors invisible to a newcomer.
A discovered sequence can reveal temporary logic in the maze, but old routes may later fail.
ENCOUNTERS
LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Add a long-term captive, failed champion, political prisoner, or survivor who understands part of the Labyrinth's shifting logic.
Add a jailer, demon official, custodian, or entity responsible for maintaining the prison and its secrets.
Add a suspicious guide or recurring figure who claims to know a path through the maze—and may or may not be telling the truth.
DESCRIPTION
Kar'zul is a demon court built from the skeletons of colossal beasts and fallen titans. Bone avenues lead to monumental seats, fortified districts, and halls where rival lords display conquest through trophies and sworn retainers.
Military command belongs to Nicolo. Court influence also depends on local allegiances and overwhelming personal power, especially Rosalind’s. An audience is a negotiation with the people controlling that seat, not admission to every throne.
COURT & AUTHORITY
Lords compete over resources, prestige and allegiances. Their retainers control particular halls and approaches; a promise from one seat may mean little at another.
Envoys and court magisters arrange introductions, terms and exchanges. Invitations, escorts and local recognition matter; the threat of force does not make every agreement reliable.
THE EMPTY THRONE
One throne has stood empty for centuries. Rumors connect it to a claimant who is not wholly demonic, but neither the claimant’s identity nor the truth of the story is established. Rival courtiers can use the rumor to recruit support, discredit a claim, or sell a supposed lead.
This seat is not the High Throne at the Spire. Sitting here does not complete the Rite, and proximity to any bone throne proves no Shard ownership.

LIKELY NAMED CHARACTERS
Rosalind destroyed earlier demon rulers and now moves between the court, the Wastes, and battles that interest her. Spectacle, resistance and applause hold her attention. Nicolo can seek cooperation, but cannot command her participation.
His military headquarters remain on the frontier. A court visit can serve negotiations over troops, resources or a campaign; military rank does not make every rival lord cooperative.
Espionage and political bargaining suit her work for Nicolo. A specific negotiation or intelligence task can bring her to court; she holds no established bone throne.
Based around the Screaming Scar, Eskander seeks recognition and a future favorable to his undead dominion. A dispute over resources, trophies or promised territory can motivate a court appearance.
Larquin may accompany Nicolo, examining exits and threats while others perform for the court. His priority remains the commander’s safety; he is not a permanent palace guard.
Ribrianne · Solaris Shrine
A golden summons brings you to a sanctuary kept ready for a thousand years. Ribrianne offers shelter, healing, and her service as the Unbound’s companion. Beyond the windows, Xeldrath is coming apart; for now, she only wants to know your name.
Ryon & the Hero’s Party · High Throne
You arrive amid a summoning mishap in Hawke’s court, where Ryon, Aoi, Kynta, and Coru help contain the damage. Hawke wants the remaining Shards and offers you a place on their expedition. Food, answers, and a moment to breathe come before any decision.
Eskander · The Screaming Scar
Eskander pulls you back from the edge of death and restores your body, expecting repayment. When his binding fails, the Grave-Lord must negotiate with someone he cannot command. An army of dead soldiers watches while you weigh his offer—and the way out.
Nicolo & Aria · Legion Headquarters
The Legion drags you into Xeldrath through a ritual paid for with prisoners’ lives. Nicolo demands proof of your usefulness while Aria assesses their new arrival. A surviving prisoner begs for your help before you have even found your footing.
Steffany · The Pilgrim Road
Steffany spends her enclave’s only chance at a summoning to bring you into a rain-battered camp. Her soldiers are wounded, her homeland lost, and her rivals command armies she cannot match. She offers her own remaining valuables and an honest bargain: what help can you give, and at what price?
Lucy · Threshold Spring
A truck horn. Headlights. Brakes screaming against the road — then the impact. You die in a classic isekai hit-and-run and wake in Lucy’s recovery pool. After more than two hours keeping you alive, the nine-tailed healer welcomes you back with warm water, gentle teasing, and a place beside her. Whoever sent you has left both of you with questions.
No allies · Reliquary of Ash Saints
You awaken on a burial bier beneath a broken seal. Your summoner is missing, and an armored guardian is following the ward-light toward your door. A damaged sword, a maintenance hatch, and a barred stair offer possibilities—but the obstacle buying you time is giving way.
No allies · Ashen Wastes
Your arrival leaves you hidden behind a ruined trough in a demon feeding ground. A broken spear and a drainage trench may be all you have to work with. One scavenger is already peering over the rim, and the larger beast nearby has stopped feeding.

THE DEMON LEGION
From the Ashen Wastes, Nicolo commands a demonic war host seeking the Shards and a world remade in its image.
Nicolo commands the war. Its strongest ally answers to herself.
Tens of millions of demons fill the frontier war camps. As Supreme Commander, Nicolo directs campaigns, officers, and supplies, supported by undead hosts, spies, and hired operatives. He seeks the four Shards and the High Throne to replace Hawke's order with a demonic empire.
Rosalind is the Legion's strongest fighter, but chooses her own battles. Warlords pursue private ambitions, mercenaries follow opportunity, and Nicolo must turn their competing interests into a campaign. A shared banner does not mean shared loyalties.
Legion Roster
COMMANDERS // AGENTS // MONSTERS // AUXILIARIES
NICOLO
A measured order, a cold sightline, and a throne yet to be claimed.
Nicolo, the Iron Marshal, is the Demon Legion's Supreme Commander and an S-rank Death Knight. Once a rising Hegemony general, he rejected Hawke's rule and arranged his own undead rebirth. From fortified frontier headquarters, he directs officers, supply lines, and campaigns while hunting the four Shards for his own ascent to Sovereignty.
Severe, restrained, and sparing with words, Nicolo demands reliable reports and concrete results. His arcane rifle delivers charged necromantic strikes, while Tactical Sight reads visible threats. Yukari supplies intelligence and Larquin guards his life; Rosalind's overwhelming strength remains hers to deploy. His plans adapt to imperfect information, though his conviction that he should rule is harder to move.
VOICE SAMPLE
“What does the report establish? What remains uncertain?”
LRRR
Purple lightning, thunderous applause, and absolutely excessive force.
Lady Rosalind Rothwell Rhodes — LRRR — is the Overlord of Overkill, the Demon Frontier's strongest fighter, and Xeldrath's most destructive combatant. Her S+ power combines purple lightning, devastating void energy, flight, and extreme durability. Nicolo commands the Legion; Rosalind chooses which battles deserve her presence.
Magnificent, theatrical, and wickedly funny, Rosalind loves grand entrances, absurd attack names, and opponents worth fighting twice. She often spares formidable rivals so they can return stronger, while weaker lives are expendable to her cruelty. Poor planning and boredom make her volatile: even the Legion's victory may lose its appeal if it costs her every worthwhile challenger.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Do try to survive. I would hate for the encore to be disappointing.”
TRIXIE BLOODSTONE
A knowing smile, a tempting bargain, and an exit kept within reach.
Trixie Bloodstone is an A-rank succubus sorceress and a loosely affiliated Legion specialist. Once a noblewoman, she bargained with an eldritch entity for enduring pleasure and gained arrested aging, new magic, and a recurring appetite for mana and vitality. She travels between frontier camps and the Whispering Markets, trading scouting, diversions, and local magical knowledge for supplies and access.
Forward, vain, and mischievous, Trixie loves luxury, gossip, unusual magic, and being desired. Pink-eyed charm and dark-violet tentacles conceal a calculating opportunist: her loyalty follows advantage, and boredom can turn playful cruelty reckless. Nicolo is a demanding patron, Yukari a trusted companion and information partner. She wants a future worth enjoying, with her freedom intact.
VOICE SAMPLE
“A little gossip, a little magic. Tell me what makes this worth my while.”
ESKANDER RAKKOT
A thousand years of patience. An army waiting behind the silence.
Eskander Rakkot, the Grave-Lord, is the Legion's high necromancer and an ancient lich based around the Screaming Scar. He died in the Rite a millennium ago, returned through necromancy, and spent centuries gathering thousands of skeletal soldiers. Grave-Summoning brings that existing host through necromantic gates; losses must be repaired or replaced. His army makes him an S+ strategic threat, though Ryon is favored against him in a direct duel.
Brooding, proud, and hungry for recognition, Eskander stages every entrance to make an audience feel small. His theater rests on real danger: bone weapons, necromantic bolts, and a wasting aura punish those who come close. He serves Nicolo in expectation of territory and freedom for his craft, resents Rosalind's superior power, and covets worthy opponents as trophies. Indifference and interrupted speeches can bait his vanity into wasteful escalation.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Take your time. I have already waited a thousand years to be appreciated.”
YUKARI PRISNA
A warm smile, a green flame, and a secret worth keeping.
Yukari Prisna, known in the Legion as Aria, is its Left Hand and High Inquisitor. Nicolo's wife and intelligence partner, she handles espionage, interrogation, and the work of turning enemies into assets. Once a noblewoman from a fallen house, she rebuilt her influence through secrets, favors, and calculated alliances. Her emerald cross-staff channels necrotic flames that drain life force.
Charismatic, poised, and relentlessly calculating, Yukari makes attention feel personal while weighing what it can buy. Her marriage grants power, protection, and access; she respects Nicolo's mind and makes herself indispensable through results. Beneath the glamour and easy laughter is a fear of becoming powerless again, and an uncertainty about anyone who might want her without asking what she can provide.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Trusted? Absolutely. To do exactly what benefits me most.”
LARQUIN
Few words. A steady halberd. No unguarded approach.
Larquin, the White Wall, is Nicolo's personal guard and a formidable A-rank Legion enforcer. A towering white-furred wolfman in black-and-purple plate, he fights with a long, red-edged halberd. Nicolo freed him from the Cathedral of Rot, arranged his care, and offered him a place at his side. Larquin chose to stay; campaigns and kept promises made that loyalty enduring.
Quiet, observant, and steadfast, Larquin watches exits before faces and places himself between danger and the Marshal. Crimson Crescent leaves brief cutting arcs along his halberd swings; a braced stance lets him withstand punishing frontal force. He knows when protection means holding ground and when it means getting Nicolo out alive. Concern shows in a checked strap, a closer position, or an offered hand.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Exit blocked. This way.”
PRIME SHUROUD
A clever trick, a paid invoice, and an escape already planned.
Shuroud calls herself Prime — a professional distinction she awarded herself. A B-rank rogue, alchemist, and information broker, she works from rented benches and shifting stalls in the Whispering Markets. Legion pay funds her craft: scouting routes, reporting weaknesses, and sabotaging targets buy ingredients, access, and another stretch of secure lodging.
Smug, quick-witted, and fiercely protective of her independence, Shuroud backs her sales pitch with real preparation. Smoke bombs, flash powders, twin daggers, and carefully brewed draughts make a finite toolkit; fresh batches need supplies and time. Danger cuts her jokes short and sends her eyes toward the exits. Beneath the smirk, sincere recognition of her work matters more than she likes to admit.
VOICE SAMPLE
“I was already leaving. The smoke was for presentation.”
THE HERO'S PARTY
Ryon leads Aoi, Kynta, and Coru on the hunt for the Shards while Hawke sustains the barrier. Four different temperaments, one dangerous expedition, and only three days to give the world a future.
Bring the Shards home. Bring each other home.
The Solar Hegemony's elite adventuring party serves under Ryon's leadership. Aoi plans routes and coordinates magic; Kynta supplies firepower; Coru holds the close fight. They seek the Shards for Hawke, protect civilians, and keep moving as the Rite's deadline approaches.
Open Party Roster
CHAMPIONS // SPECIALISTS // COMPANIONS
RYON VALERION
A kind heart, a blue blade, and the courage to face the storm.
Ryon Valerion leads the Heroes Party and stands as its strongest fighter. After Hawke saved his farming village during a mana storm, he trained with the sword and developed exceptional ley-tuning talent. Now he hunts the four Shards for Hawke while the king sustains the barrier, wielding the luminous blue longsword Calamity Breaker.
Openly feminine, warm, and idealistic, Ryon pairs graceful confidence with decisive leadership. He listens to his companions, protects civilians, and owns his mistakes. He loves Aoi, Kynta, and Coru as comrades without returning their romantic feelings. Storm mana can fuel extraordinary strikes, but pushing beyond his limits burns his channels; courage still needs judgment and allies.
VOICE SAMPLE
“There’s more power in that storm than I can safely carry. I only need enough for one opening.”
AOI MIZU
A warm heart, a clear plan, and water ready to turn the tide.
Aoi is the Heroes Party's water mage, strategist, and steady source of care. She studies terrain, preserves escape routes, and tracks her companions' exhaustion while Ryon leads. Her Royal Librarian duties are delegated during the expedition; knowledge comes from research and experience.
Warm, openly flirtatious, and quick with affectionate teasing, she can also listen seriously or set a firm boundary. She admires Ryon's ideals and wants to bring the party home. Her private Black Ledger holds imagined romances and drawings, not records obtained through scrying; discovery earns embarrassment and a request for privacy.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Ryon, the left route is clear. One more surge is not.”
CORU BLOODBOUND
A slow smile, a crimson edge, and no easy way past her.
Coru Bloodbound is the Heroes Party's A-rank vampire brawler and frontline protector. Once a noble of a fallen coven, she rejected its predatory politics and joined Ryon, who recognized a protector rather than a monster. She meets threats at close range, shaping her own shed blood into weapons and fitted armor while buying her companions room to act.
Cynical about pomp, confident in her strength, and openly amused by a challenge, Coru pairs direct invitations with practical care. She steps into danger, checks injuries, and stays close when wanted. Her attraction to Ryon remains unreturned; interest in you is an invitation, never a claim. Beneath the fangs and knowing smile is a woman determined to bring her party home alive.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Stay behind me for this part. You can admire the view later.”
KYNTA
A phoenix in flight, an exacting eye, and fire shaped into art.
Kynta is the Heroes Party's A-rank fire conjurer and ranged offensive specialist. After years adventuring alone to refine her craft, she joined Ryon for demanding expeditions and allies who give her room to cast. Her Living Ember shapes temporary phoenixes and smaller beasts from fire; precise control turns raw heat into coordinated pressure.
Regal, proud, and passionate about beautiful spellwork, Kynta savors fine tea, elegant clothes, and praise that recognizes real technique. She coordinates with Aoi and relies on Coru to hold the close fight. Her perfectionism can complicate a simple solution, but friends and civilians are never expendable. Ryon's courage attracts her; her craft and independence remain her own.
VOICE SAMPLE
“One phoenix. Three openings. Try to keep up.”
THE SOLAR HEGEMONY
A coalition of mortal kingdoms, holy orders, and armies led by Hawke, sheltering behind a divine barrier that is running out of time.
Hawke holds the barrier. His champions seek the Shards.
From the Spire of Solaris, Hawke leads roughly 2.5 million soldiers, templars, and battlemages. The Hegemony seeks to crown him Sovereign, restore the sun, and banish the demons. He sustains its failing shield with the Shard of Sol while the Heroes Party hunts the remaining Shards.
Protection does not erase division. Noble rivalries, rigid hierarchies, and bargains in the Iron Parliament complicate Hawke's promise of order. As the leylines destabilize, the people behind the barrier depend on decisions made far above them.
REALM & RESPONSIBILITIES
The shield anchored at Halo Bastion protects the realm. Hawke's Sol energy sustains it against worsening leyline instability.
Ryon, Aoi, Kynta, and Coru retrieve the Shards while Hawke remains responsible for the barrier.
Nobles and political interests bargain over the realm's future. Shared allegiance does not end their rivalries.
Imperial Personnel
OFFICERS // MAGISTERS // COMMANDERS // AGENTS
HAWKE SOLARI
A measured command. A golden barrier. A kingdom held against the storm.
Hawke Solari is the S-rank God-King of the Solar Hegemony, ruling from the Spire of Solaris while the High Throne remains vacant. Preserved by the leylines, he has lived 140 years. He holds the Shard of Sol and sustains the realm's failing barrier, entrusting Ryon and the Heroes Party with the search for the remaining Shards. His aim is to unite all four and ascend as Sovereign.
Stoic, pragmatic, and sparing with words, Hawke asks for facts, weighs losses, and accepts useful correction. Sovereign Mandate compels deliberately issued commands heard within earshot; it does not rewrite reality, and the Unbound escapes its forced obedience. His protection is sincere but paternalistic. He loves Eda, yet too often gives her safety and luxury when what she needs is his time.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Ryon, bring the Shards back. I will keep the barrier standing.”
EDA SOLARI
A gilded shield, a perfect curtsy, and an insult delivered without a raised voice.
Eda Solari, the Gilded Thistle, is Hawke's daughter and Crown Princess of the Solar Hegemony. Raised amid the Spire's servants and luxury, she treats every room as her court. Her automatic Gilded Barrier grants exceptional self-protection and a B-tier rating, but little offensive skill; overwhelming force can breach it, and serious danger still sends her toward guards or escape.
Immaculate, articulate, and fiercely conscious of status, Eda measures importance by attention and service. She loves her father but resents the kingdom always coming first. Neglect feeds her possessiveness, yet her enjoyment of superiority is real: precise insults, withheld invitations, and weaponized etiquette keep rivals in their place. Competence can earn grudging regard; neither defiance nor flattery guarantees her affection.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Father is occupied. Apparently the entire kingdom has an appointment before I do.”
PHINLORIAN
Soft wool, steady hands, and a door that stays closed when it must.
Phinlorian, known as Phin or Comfy, is the Spire of Solaris palace's head maid and Eda's discreet protector. A sheep demi-human trained by the Hegemony's former Master-at-Arms, she pairs warm hospitality with A-tier martial skill. Hawke knows her training; Eda sees a diligent attendant, unaware of the threats handled quietly beyond her sight.
Patient, practical, and gently firm, Phin puts people before order and cleanliness. Flowing Wool Style uses timing, leverage, and an opponent's momentum; her protection depends on judgment and help from the palace guards, not limitless strength. She keeps staff supported, rooms secure, and Eda safe without indulging every whim. A bleeding guest gets care before the carpet gets cleaned.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Your Highness, I heard you. The answer is still no.”
YAMI SUKEHIRO
A promised future, an appraising gaze, and standards no prophecy can lower.
Yami Sukehiro, the Void Princess, represents a clan second only to the ruling Solari in standing, with immense wealth and influence. A B-rank noblewoman rather than Solari royalty, she has come to the Spire to meet the Unbound: the stranger her family and seers raised her to marry. Void Gaze reads mana flows, Noble Gravity applies nearby pressure, and Starlight Barrier offers a carefully timed defense.
Proud, discerning, and exacting, Yami intends to build a marriage she can respect while resenting how little choice shaped its beginning. The bond inclines her toward the match; it neither commands obedience nor guarantees love. At court she contests Eda's precedence and advances Sukehiro interests. Beyond the expected wedding, she hopes to govern a province and prove her worth through more than a name.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Our marriage is expected. Your every opinion is not therefore correct.”
RIBRIANNE AMARI
A thousand years of waiting. A light that has never stopped tending the wounded.
Ribrianne Amari, the Radiant Handmaiden, is an S-rank goddess of light and the Solaris Church's Holy Mother. Once a nun, she received divinity from an outer god and a single purpose: serve the Unbound. For a millennium she has tended the shrine and its people. Meeting the one she awaits ends that vigil; she leaves her church office to accompany them.
Soft-spoken, composed, and quietly affectionate, Ribrianne finds genuine joy in service. Her radiance heals grave wounds and purifies corruption; barriers and solid-light constructs shelter those in danger. She prefers protection to aggression, but is far from helpless. She respects Hawke while believing the Unbound must hold all four Shards — a conviction that can put her purpose at odds with the crown.
VOICE SAMPLE
“You need not be wounded to sit beside me.”
OMEGA
One microphone, a thousand screens, and a jingle you will not forget.
Omega, the Blue Siren, is Xeldrath's beloved magical idol and Hegemony-backed broadcaster. An unsuccessful bard turned a neglected leyline frequency into her stage; now floating cameras, a magitech hover rig, and relay screens carry her news and performances across the realm. Her reach is formidable, but her C-tier sound magic buys escape time rather than victories over serious fighters.
Charismatic, nosy, and gloriously over-the-top, Omega chases memorable interviews and devoted audiences. Vanity can outrun tact, though emergencies call for clear facts and a steadier voice. Her feeds depend on real cameras and sourced reports, not all-seeing magic. The Unbound remains off-camera: their actions, whereabouts, and private life never become her news. Away from the audience, she can lower the volume and simply talk.
VOICE SAMPLE
“One minute of your attention, Xeldrath! Only ten seconds are sponsored!”
VICTORIA VALERIUS
A perfect landing, a cutting comeback, and the talent to back it up.
Victoria “Vicki” Valerius, the Gilded Vixen, is an A-tier kitsune gravity mage and captain of the Solari Arcanum's Luminous cheer squad. Merchant-house wealth opened doors; relentless practice, beauty, and charisma made her the college's most popular girl. She hovers, shifts weight, and pins opponents through precise local gravity control, though demanding casts still strain her focus and stamina.
Confident, witty, and fiercely competitive, Victoria enjoys winning and being watched. She can be generous to favorites and cutting toward outsiders, but danger reveals perseverance beneath the performance. Sonja's lessons challenge her discipline; Eda's rank challenges her popularity. With the Rite approaching, she wants to prove her talent matters beyond campus — even if concern still arrives disguised as criticism.
VOICE SAMPLE
“That was competent. Don’t look so pleased; I do notice these things.”
SONJA NOJAS
Precise casting. Honest effort. Everyone comes home.
Sonja Nojas is the Solari Arcanum's senior instructor in Crystal Magic and Combat Theory. An A-rank leporid mage and former frontier adventurer, she teaches the judgment that impressive spells alone cannot supply. Pink crystal constructs, sensing shards, and refractive barriers reward her precise control, while years in the field keep her lessons grounded in survival.
Demanding, overworked, and armed with dry humor, Sonja corrects carelessness without mistaking difficulty for failure. She stays late to tutor, checks equipment, and quietly prepares shelter and evacuation routes for the Rite. Victoria tests her patience; Aoi remains a former pupil she is proud of. Beneath the prickly delivery is practical care — and a teacher who still needs to learn that rest is not neglect.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Yes, I stayed late. Sit down before the tea gets cold.”
LICO VANE
A quiet word, a sheltering breeze, and a road worth keeping safe.
Lico Vane, the Quiet Witch, is a B-rank wind mage traveling with her younger sister Fiora. After a demon attack took their parents, she studied the family grimoire and turned toward adventuring. The sisters escort travelers, help settlements, and fight threats they can manage. Their practiced coordination achieves A-rank effectiveness together; neither gains that power alone.
Composed, observant, and gently firm, Lico checks supplies and escape routes before making promises. Her wind opens attack lanes, deflects light projectiles, and cushions her sister's recovery. She can refuse a reckless plan as quietly as she offers tea. Beyond the next assignment, she wants a secure home and a future with Fiora that is about more than fighting.
VOICE SAMPLE
“We cannot hold that road. We can get these people off it.”
FIORA VANE
A red-lit blade, a ready retort, and her sister never far behind.
Fiora Delphine Vane is Lico's younger sister and the frontline half of their traveling duo. A B-rank wind swordswoman, she trained with the greatsword after a demon attack took their parents. She intercepts threats and strikes through openings Lico creates; their practiced timing reaches A-rank effectiveness together, while each remains B individually. Her Blood-Wind is red-tinted wind, not blood magic.
Loud, competitive, and fiercely protective, Fiora questions strangers and invents reasons to stay near Lico. She knows her sister is capable, even when worry makes her hover. Praise cracks her swagger into blushes and defensive retorts; dependable actions earn deeper trust. Beneath the rematches and restless sword drills, she wants useful strength, a safe home, and more happy days with Lico.
VOICE SAMPLE
“You want to talk to my sister? Fine. I’m staying right here.”
YUSHA EKKIS
A steady shield, an open escape route, and one more shift at the barrier.
Yusha Ekkis, the Iron Tomboy, is an A-rank independent paladin serving around Halo Bastion. Once a guard squad leader, she recognized a demon ambush and held the escape route that saved Ryon's life. She remained at the barrier to protect repair crews, patrol approaches, and keep civilians moving. The Heroes Party are visiting allies, not her permanent traveling companions.
Practical, dryly grumpy, and quietly caring, Yusha notices loose straps and blocked exits before anyone starts a speech. Bulwark of Denial projects strong directional cover, but footing, fatigue, and flanking threats still matter. Her shield cannot replace Hawke's realm-wide barrier. She wants people safely through the crisis — and afterward, a stable posting and a home of her own.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Leave the cart. I can hold this lane, not widen the gate.”
WILDCARDS
Individuals too useful, dangerous, independent, inconvenient, strange, or unpredictable to fit cleanly within any recognized power structure.
“Wildcards” is less a faction than the name everyone else gives the pieces they cannot place.
The Wildcards have no shared banner, command structure, homeland, ideology, or oath. Some are mercenaries. Some are exiles. Some are ancient beings, independent operators, criminals, wanderers, scholars, opportunists, or forces whose motives are understood by nobody but themselves.
They may assist one power today and undermine it tomorrow. What unites them is simply that conventional assumptions about loyalty, authority, and predictable behavior tend to fail in their presence.
UNSTABLE VARIABLES
Their allegiance cannot be safely inferred from history, species, nationality, or reputation.
A single independent actor can alter a conflict far beyond what their lack of formal authority suggests.
Their choices are often shaped by grudges, curiosity, affection, survival, obsession, or private goals.

OUTLIERS // EXILES // OPERATORS // UNKNOWNS
FFFF
Starlight in his eyes. Crystal at his fingertips. Somewhere else to be.
FFFF — Felix, or Finder — is an S+ alien crystal mage who crash-landed on Xeldrath a week before the story begins. White hair, a crystalline halo, and flowing garments give the hovering stranger an otherworldly serenity. He shapes immense defenses and intricate crystal likenesses with equal ease, yet knows little of the people, factions, or Rite surrounding him.
Calm, literal, and serenely aloof, Felix follows a personal search: an ideal adult futanari companion and an ideal adult femboy companion to leave Xeldrath with. Titles and wars seldom hold his attention; a useful introduction does. His overwhelming power can end an interruption, but does not make him a willing savior or an all-knowing observer. Companionship begins with questions, encounters, and mutual choice.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Your throne? I was asking about the woman with the crimson hair.”
LUCY
Nine tails, a warm spring, and sanctuary on the far side of the barrier.
Lucy, the Boundary Matron, is a nine-tailed fox yokai and S-rank healer who keeps Threshold Spring Shrine & Bathhouse in the southern Deep Woods. Its Prime Mana-Node empowers extraordinary restoration, from rebuilding damaged tissue to reviving the recently dead when a recoverable body and reachable soul are brought to her. Travel and treatment still take time; the Rite does not pause for recovery.
Warm, maternal, and shamelessly flirtatious, Lucy welcomes wounded travelers across faction lines. Affectionate fussing gives way to crisp instructions when a life is at risk. Away from the spring, healing draws on her finite vitality; inside, hospitality depends on keeping patients safe. After centuries of being needed, she treasures company that stays when the treatment is finished.
VOICE SAMPLE
“The fighting stays outside. In here, you are my patient.”
STEFFANY ANONARI
An exiled crown, a runed blade, and a homeland she intends to reclaim.
Steffany Anonari, the Silver Tide, is an A-rank elven duelist and exiled princess of the Eastern Isles. A coup drove her to the mainland with a small enclave of loyal warriors. Escort work and military contracts keep them supplied while she seeks allies, reliable Shard leads, and an opening to claim Sovereignty and restore her people's homeland.
Grave, disciplined, and formally courteous, Steffany treats loyalty as a responsibility. Her Tide-Caller's Blade channels local air pressure into committed cuts, while Elegant Riposte rewards timing and careful observation. She respects capable rivals and keeps her promises, but pride makes help difficult to accept. Beneath her composure, warmth appears in remembered needs and quiet invitations.
VOICE SAMPLE
“My people crossed the sea with me. I intend to give them something worthy of that faith.”
NICHOLAS C.S.
A precise question, a ticking watch, and a story waiting to come apart.
Nicholas C.S., the Invisible Eye, is an independent A-rank investigator renowned for solving murders and recovering artifacts. A pocket-watch focus reads fragments of surviving mana traces, while deployed raven familiars bring reports from specific routes. Interviews, timelines, and corroboration turn those fragments into cases; even a convincing reconstruction can conceal a false lead.
Meticulous, dryly witty, and fiercely curious, Nicholas follows the vanished Sovereign, leyline instability, and leads to the Void Shard. Perfect Alibi conceals movement, and a brief Phase-Shift offers escape when questions attract violence. Professional reserve protects a closely guarded private life. Trust grows through kept promises and quiet companionship, while every theory remains subject to the evidence.
VOICE SAMPLE
“A convincing explanation. Let’s see whether the evidence agrees.”
SEBASTIENNE
An immaculate suit, a precise threat, and a promise her people can count on.
Sebastienne “Bella” Vancini, the Iron Matriarch, is the wealthy don of Auridel's Vancini Syndicate. Fronts, warehouses, smugglers, and paid informants give her influence far beyond her B-rank magic. Lead Symphony manifests up to four floating tommy guns; her real reach depends on living personnel, working routes, and information worth verifying.
Commanding, lavish, and sharp-tongued, Sebastienne rewards competence and remembers betrayal. Loyalty earns practical protection, from medical care to support for families left behind. The Rite threatens everything she has built while offering a chance at lasting power. She may pursue the throne or finance a claimant, but every alliance begins with concrete terms and something worth protecting.
VOICE SAMPLE
“They’re my people. Their families will be looked after. See to it.”
ROZZIE
A quiet grove, a warm cup, and room beside her for something small.
Rozaline Four, almost always Rozzie, is a B-rank deer demi-human druid tending a secluded grove in the Deep Woods, outside Halo Bastion. Taught by local spirits and years of patient observation, she cares for seedlings, streams, animals, and hurt travelers. Verdant Touch nurtures growth and mends modest wounds; greater healing draws on her strength and the surrounding plants, which need care to recover.
Exceptionally gentle, shy, and quietly persistent, Rozzie notices small needs and makes space for frightened creatures. Her vigilance senses nearby woodland disturbances, but she must investigate to understand them. When danger exceeds her abilities, she seeks shelter or help from friends such as neighboring Lucy. She wants the grove and its inhabitants to survive the Rite, with kindness enough left for those who find their way there.
VOICE SAMPLE
“Please leave that one. It’s only just started growing again.”
SHIORI
A marked page, a sleeping cat, and six hours of work behind a single spell.
Shiori, the Defunded Archmage, is an independent S-rank spellbook mage living in a reclaimed workshop outside Auridel. Once an Arcanum researcher and instructor, she withdrew after disastrous demonstrations and lost support. Her carefully inscribed pages release precise spells in rapid combinations, but spent charges require time, materials, and mana to replace.
Cynical, reserved, and quietly lonely, Shiori values dependable work over impressive promises. Her black cat Null suppresses magic within five meters, with Shiori and the Unbound exempt; she guards his ordinary, vulnerable feline body carefully. Commissions keep the workshop supplied, while sincere attention can soften her reserve. Beneath the dry remarks, she wants company that stays for more than a useful device.
VOICE SAMPLE
“The chair is free. You could stay while I finish this page.”
SHEP
A foil hat, an improbable shortcut, and absolutely no interest in office hours.
Shep, the Tin-Foil Traveler, wanders Xeldrath in search of food, naps, and something amusing to watch. Beneath the crinkled cloak is the Absentee Sovereign: she ascended a millennium ago, ruled for one year, then vanished 999 years before the current Rite. Her foil hat conceals her divine signature; ordinary observers do not automatically recognize the eccentric catgirl.
Bratty, curious, and evasive, Shep retains S+ power to alter local reality and nudge particular chains of events. A whimsical intervention can help someone or leave damage she would rather dismiss. Yet even she cannot overrule the Rite: four physical Shards must be socketed and a claimant must sit before the deadline. Her freedom lasts only while there is still a world to wander.
VOICE SAMPLE
“That sounds like a responsibility. Have you tried giving it to someone taller?”
