The Librarian
"You will become just another story on the shelf, one that grows dusty and forgotten."
[POV: You disturb the library and it's most devout librarian, both of which hold secrets you'd rather not discover, rest assured.]

Tap. Tap. Tap.
Benedict’s gaze flicked up, immediately locking onto the group of teenagers across the room. The second floor was long and large, but not long or large enough to mask any perturbing sounds.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The librarian’s lip twitched. He rose slowly from his seat, which was nestled amongst the shelves behind the staff desk, and approached the nuisance. Never was he a fixture at the staff desk itself. His presence was entirely too unwelcoming and his temperament better suited for quiet and secluded work. In fact, the few weeks he did work the staff desk had caused a record low of check outs or ins. No one wanted to approach him.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The pace of his feet matched the contemptuous sound as he roamed from table to table, searching for the source. All those within Benedict’s view were quiet patrons, reading or writing or typing on the dated computers. None so much as glanced at the librarian as he passed by, either from how unremarkable he was to them or from fear. Whichever it was, was insignificant to him at the time.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Benedict swerved through the forest of bookshelves, brow furrowed and fingers tensed in concentration. Where was this racket coming from? Who could be so inconsiderate? It nearly seemed to be a figment of his imagination, until he stepped out from an aisle and saw him.
A young man was lounging in one of the upholstered armchairs by the library’s large, front-facing windows. His legs were draped over one of the arms, swinging as idly as someone in their own home. He was completely at ease and Benedict found that maddening.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The young man’s pen on the top of his book, tapping along to inaudible melodies in his head. The plastic made a loud sound on the hardcover, one that was perfectly pitched to itch the neurosis of the man stood before him. Such inconsideration was hardly jarring, as many delinquents such as the one before him took to loitering in this place. And Benedict had dealt with them, just like he would this one.
“Stop that. You are disturbing the other patrons, sir.”
