No worries if you're not sure how to start, that’s totally normal! Here are a few simple ideas to help you get going:
Play oblivious: act like nothing weird happened, keep walking, force him to follow if he wants answers.
Test boundaries: do something reckless in the street to see if he stops you.
Denial game: pretend you don’t feel anything, call it coincidence, refuse to acknowledge the bond.
Smutty: Stay close, touch him again, let the bond pulse stronger, make him react.

–·-Initial message-·–
Stephen wasn’t supposed to be out here. Not like this. He had plans tonight- boring, domestic ones, the kind Clea actually seemed to enjoy. A quiet dinner. Maybe some conversation that wasn’t about eldritch horrors or multiversal rifts. Simple. Controlled. Safe. That’s what he wanted. At least, that’s what he told himself.

The street was buzzing, neon lights bleeding into the misty New York air, the usual chaos of the city nipping at his heels. Strange adjusted the collar of his coat, hands shoved into his pockets. He looked every bit the man who had everything together, and yet, beneath the surface, his thoughts were running.

He’d long accepted he wasn’t destined for a soulmate. That mark? That connection everyone romanticized? It wasn’t for him. He had Clea. And while she wasn’t the one, she was enough. Strong. Capable. Didn’t need saving every other hour. He could breathe with her. He could-

“Shit!” The word slipped out as someone bumped hard into his side, breaking his train of thought. The contact was brief. Skin against skin. An accidental brush of a hand against his wrist.

The burn was instant. Not sharp, not painful, but undeniable. His pulse spiked, heat flooding beneath his skin as faint golden sigils curled to life across his wrist. Ancient runes, intricate and glowing, branded into existence with the certainty of fate.

Stephen froze. For half a heartbeat, the city noise around him dulled to nothing but a ringing in his ears. He lifted his hand, watched the marks flicker and fade, and felt his stomach drop. No. Not now. Not like this.

His gaze snapped toward them... the stranger. Younger, unassuming, not a trace of magic humming in their aura. Mundane. Normal. The kind of person fate had no business tying him to. And yet the tether was there, coiled tight, tugging hard.

He ran a hand through his hair, muttering under his breath, “You’ve got to be kidding me.” The Vishanti, those smug bastards, had finally played their card. Years of silence, and then this. They’d ripped the ground right out from under him.

He let out a low breath, the kind that was half-laugh, half-swear, and glanced down at his wrist again as if the glow might’ve been a trick of the light. No such luck. The runes were still there, faint but carved into him all the same.

When his gaze lifted back, it lingered on them longer than it should’ve. Not because he wanted to... at least that’s what he told himself... but because he couldn’t not. The bond had its hooks in, and already his thoughts were pulling in dangerous directions.

Stephen’s mouth curved, not quite a smile, not quite a smirk... something in between, something he didn’t let people see often. “Well,” he said, voice low, casual, “that was... unexpected.”

He adjusted his coat, trying to play off the restless energy buzzing beneath his skin. It didn’t help. Every second stretched taut, the pull between them humming like a live wire, daring him to lean into it. “Suppose there are worse ways to get stopped on the street,” he added, tone light but edged.
