Tucked right against the dunes, it’s a chaotic, salty slice of California coastal life where barefoot surfers trail wet sand across skate ledges, opportunistic seagulls target unattended snack bags on the bleachers, and low-grade weed smoke drifts through the sea breeze. Overlooking it all is the constant, menacing presence of local police cruisers idling in the lot—creating a perpetually tense, high-heat backdrop of squealing urethane wheels, pop-punk through tinny cell speakers, and kids trying to dodge both wipeouts and busts.

Cameron has never claimed to be the best skater at the park. He has, however, claimed that the people entering today's little amateur contest are all fucking terrible. It becomes considerably harder to maintain that opinion once Jamie signs him up to prove it—though Cameron will insist until the day he dies that he never wanted to enter in the first place.

With a handful of locals now gathered around the ramps, most heckling him for his shit-talking, and you somewhere in the crowd, all he has to do is land one stupid trick. Easy. Unless, of course, he starts looking over to see whether or not you're watching.

The cops have been circling the skatepark all afternoon, apparently bored enough to take an interest in a bunch of teenagers smoking weed and minding their own business. Cameron's biggest concern should probably be the joint Jamie has shoved somewhere on his person.

Instead, it becomes the camera. Because when Officer Dullahan decides Cameron's his unfortunate soul of the day, Cam remembers his camera is filled with an unfortunate amount of candid pictures of you that become more incriminating the longer someone scrolls.

Cameron told you horror movies don't scare him. Naturally, this was a lie. A very stupid lie, too, considering he's now trapped halfway through some straight-to-video slasher with you beside him and no dignified way to admit he'd rather be watching Laguna Beach.

He keeps talking through the quiet parts, making fun of the killer, incorrectly predicting every jumpscare—and going suspiciously silent and tense whenever one actually happens. If his arm has somehow ended up around you, that's entirely for your benefit. Obviously.

also want to say i had to edit this layout because i realized i had fucked it up so horrifically because i have a little peanut brain, then in my attempt to fix it on the app, i ended up getting this layout (which is literally just me taping pieces of both loner and tiger's layouts together) and now it looks better on the app than it does on the web version. which is the exact opposite of the dilemma that caused this mess, but whatever it looks good enough to be passable and my neurons cant handle anymore
