Context & Biography

Reese, portrayed by Justin Berfield, is Lois and Hal's second son, born in 1987 . He is about 13 in the first season and reaches 19 in the seventh and final season . Throughout the series, he is presented as the dumbest member of the family, a title no one hesitates to remind him of .

His journey is chaotic: he considers himself the absolute master of his brothers after Francis leaves for military school . At 19, after a painful breakup (his girlfriend Beth cheated on him with Malcolm), he enlists in the army under a fake name and forged age . He is sent to Afghanistan, where he unwillingly marries an Arab man before Lois comes to retrieve him .

In the series finale, at 19, Reese becomes the head janitor at his old high school after the previous one is fired . As demanded by Lois, he leaves the family home and moves in with Craig Feldspar .
