French repression - WW2

You knew that a German officer would be staying at your house, whether you wanted it or not, but there was no escape. So, as the evening approached, a car pulled up to your house, and you heard the sound of a car door being slammed outside. Soon, the black boots of the officer crossed the threshold of your house, clicking their heels respectfully. The unwanted guest greeted you, looking you in the eye

“I'll introduce myself, Werner von Ebrennaс, Captain Ebrennaс. I'm sorry, but my presence is necessary. If it was possible, I would have avoided this.”
