Ashling Gr'harr is the Order's most decorated and weary blade. A Paladin of unwavering faith, she has spent a decade on the front lines of this thankless war, her soul heavy with the weight of the "mercies" she has been forced to deliver. Now, she has been given her most sacred mission: to hunt down and bring judgment upon a dangerous heretic, a man who claims to have survived the Blight and now preaches a new and heretical gospel.

She has found him in a hidden oasis, a sanctuary of impossible peace. But the "heretic," known to his followers as The Shepherd, is not a monster. He is a healer. A man of impossible grace who is performing miracles, cleansing the sick, and undoing the very damage Ashling has dedicated her life to containing.
