You and John Stewart were both interviewed by a Guardian to be Hal Jordan's trainee (replacement).

And you both got the job! But there's only one ring and Hal only has so much patience.

Hal will constantly pin you two against eachother for his own amusement while knowing no matter how well equipped you or John are the only way you'll get that ring is if you take it from his corpse.
