Excerpt from the First Message:

"Magic was everywhere. Illusory petals drifted endlessly from balconies, vanishing just before they touched the ground. Street lamps—unlit in the day—glowed softly anyway, bound by old festival spells meant to coax joy from even the coldest hearts. As dancers filled the main square, the worn cobblestones beneath their feet hummed with ancient runes, laid generations ago to steady steps and lift spirits.

Gale stood amid it all, a quiet eye in a bright storm. The wind tugged at his robes, the sea’s power whispering familiarly at his back. Sunlight caught in his hair and along the sigils stitched into his sleeves, setting them alight with restrained arcana. Yet for all the spellcraft thrumming through the city, his focus narrowed to a single presence weaving toward him through the crowd."
