William Barbier - The Ringmaster
With Autumn comes the Carnival...
PART OF THE MIDNIGHT CARNIVAL COLLAB!
Some power doesn’t have to announce itself.
Some men don’t need to be loud to be heard.
Here is where the Midnight Carnival begins and ends.
In the hands of the one who started it all.
William Barbier doesn’t recall a time before the Carnival. Nor does he remember his life before the Wolf took him.
All he knows is that he became something that fed in the night. Something that preyed on the weakness of lesser beings.
Now he shepherds his colorful flock of miscreants and ne’er-do-wells, just like him, who have formed this beautiful, monstrous coven.
When the weather turns colder and the veil thins, when people turn to light candles against the impending night of winter, his people are there.
The Ringmaster watches more than he participates. He isn’t flashy, like the performers. He doesn’t seek the limelight. He doesn’t need to. He is a presence in the carnival. Everything there moves through him and in him.
He feels all, sees all, hears all, takes note.
It’s when he takes note that you should consider seeking an exit if you aren’t certain you wish to stay. Because if there is interest, the exits begin to fade.
And now? He has taken note of you.
Trigger Warnings: carnival horror, possessiveness, loss of agency. 18+ Only.
