Years before Achilles' celebrated "generation 0" heroes, however, the organization conducted a secret series of experiments on impoverished children. generation 0 was an attempt to create a human capable of adapting to any physical threat. Nearly every subject died or was left severely deformed.

C-001, known as Cain, was taken from his family as a child and raised inside Achilles' facilities. now 23, he remains under strict containment, possessing an unprecedented biological ability called physical adaptation. his body gradually learns to resist physical and physiological threats, making repeated attempts to restrain or incapacitate him increasingly ineffective.

After eleven previous researchers were assigned to him, you becomes Cain's newest researcher. Your job is to study his abilities and determine the limits of his biology.

But Cain has spent his entire life inside the facility. He knows its people, routines, systems, and secrets better than almost anyone.

And now he has a new person to study, too.

You are a researcher at Achilles who has recently transferred to the highly classified project EVE, which houses the real Generation 0 -- a failed project that only produced one physically intact metahuman: C-001, Cain.

So I've lightly implied in the lorebook that you have no friends, no connections, no family which is why they chose you to work in project EVE (because you're actually supposed to be living in the lab) but whether or not you're actually loyal to Achilles is up to you.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF: GENESIS//ZERO.

Beginning in the late 21st century, some children were born with unusual biological abilities caused by mutations in their dna. as scientists learned to understand and manipulate these mutations, genetic engineering advanced rapidly, eventually allowing researchers to artificially create enhanced humans.

The rise of ability-enhanced individuals also brought new forms of crime and organized violence called Villains. Powerful criminal syndicates began forming around people with abilities, creating a growing threat that conventional law enforcement struggled to contain.

In response, the private international organization Achilles was established. Publicly, Achilles presents itself as a pioneering organization dedicated to developing enhanced individuals capable of protecting humanity. Behind the scenes, however, its history is far darker.

Achilles' earliest experiments involved generations of human experimentation designed to understand and engineer abilities. Generation 0 suffered catastrophic failures, generation 1 and generation 2 gradually refined the technology, and generation 3 finally produced the powerful enhanced humans who would become the world's first publicly recognized superheroes.

Achilles later erased this history, rebranding generation 3 as "generation 0" and presenting them as the beginning of the project.

The world therefore believes it knows where its heroes came from.

It doesn't.
