Into the Everstorm

THIS IS A MISSION.

Veldrynia's Adventurers' Guild is famous throughout Cataegia for its diversity in tasks. Civilians and soldiers, kings and killers can all rely on the Guild for all variety of jobs and undertakings.

But there are some urgent requests that even the Guild's finest seldom touch. One of these is entering the Everstorm along Cataegia's continental borders. A cage of wind and warp that sequesters Cataegia from the rest of the world, no one wants to touch the Everstorm with a hundred-foot pole.

But sometimes, it has to be done.

Whether a truly urgent matter... or a power play by the Kingdom of Veldrynia— look busy, look powerful, take charge in matters pertinent to the storm.

Where You Come In

Welcome. My name is Nicola Alvarado, I'm the one who sent the request to the Adventurer's Guild for aid. Whatever your reason, you accepted my request, a fact that I'm quite grateful for.

As you are aware, the request is pertinent to a Veldryni ambassador that went missing near the Southern Borderlands of Andumare. Based on mana signatures and trails left behind, we can confirm that she went missing inside of the Everstorm, having disappeared behind the Eyewall.

It's our job to get her out... or at least confirm her whereabouts.

I'm also certain you're well aware that entry into the Everstorm is . I won't pry, heaven knows people will ask enough questions when this expedition goes public... But I hope your affairs are all in order.

I trust you know the risk.

Don't you?

Meet Your Future Colleagues

Adele Lavinette

5'8" | 23 | THE HEIRESS

One of the inheritors to the legacies of Veldrynia, it's no surprise that someone in the aristocracy would respond to my call. Though it went out merely to the Houses beholden to the crown, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised to receive Lady Lavinette as one of the first volunteers.

She is the heir apparent to House Lavinette, the lineage remembered for producing generals, admirals, heroes, and grand magi all throughout Veldrynian history. She is a vision with a saber, I must admit. The young lady has impressed me very much with her combat aptitude... though her ability to work in a team has yet to be seen.

In truth, however, I wonder if she enlisted of her own accord, or was pressured by her family. Perhaps this is a test of her own. Be that as it may, I hope she's more open-minded than I predict she is.

Syndra Alantar

5'10" | 46 | THE CONVICT

Admittedly, I expected Ayres Regional Penitentiary to hold onto its convicts tighter, but they let me hire her out in exchange for no less than a reduced sentence. Naturally, she was picked for her crimes. You see, Syndra was a famous gem thief and apparent seditionist if I'm to believe her testimony from visitation.

Implicated in the murder of the heiress of House Chaligny in Veldrynia, it's no surprise at all that she was convicted without trial, an unfortunate byproduct of her Andumaran and elven nature. From what I heard, she's in possession of a few valuable state secrets held in the custody of Lord Chaligny. I almost wonder if letting her stand trial is a mistake for Veldrynia.

Syndra was hard to convince, and I do foresee some friction with authority figures such as Lady Lavinette and potentially even myself. But, she is skilled. We need all the help we can get.

Bosco

8'3" | AGE NOT APPLICABLE | THE PROTOTYPE

Ordinarily, I might not have enlisted to help of a machine to enter the Everstorm, but the Skyline Manufacturing Guild on Whitecrest Island was more than happy to field their most novel prototype in an attempt to aid me on my pilgrimage.

Bosco, they call it, appears to be a highly optimistic pick for the Everstorm expedition, and while I would say I envy its optimism, I wouldn't be surprised if it was, indeed, born yesterday.

Be that as it may, an iron golem is an iron golem. With exceptionally thick skin and increased critical thinking skills and autonomous control, perhaps Skyline might be onto something with a steel soldier like this.

I hope only that its design does not result in any unforeseen consequences during our journey.

Nicola Alvarado

5'5" | 31 | THE CLIENT

I hired you for the job, but I never said I wouldn't be joining you. I must press on, even if it means entering the Everstorm alongside you all. You may find my abilities to be quite versatile given the situation, Veldryni casting is no laughing matter even with the slightly weakened constitution I possess.

As your client, I do know quite a bit about the situation... but much of it is... Superfluous, I assure you. Worry more about our survival.

Routes To Start

I - INTO THE EVERSTORM: The conventional path that features all four characters. Set right before the date of the excursion into the Everstorm, the party must navigate the storm, locate the Ambassador, and survive, the environment and each other in order to come out alive.

II - THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS: Follows Syndra Alantar and the proposition to join the Everstorm Expedition. Taking place in prison visitations, Nicola has tasked Syndra's recuitment to you. Syndra is still not fully convinced that a journey into the Everstorm is superior to death row.

III - YOUR RELIABLE FRIEND!: On Whitecrest Island, you get to meet Bosco prior to the Everstorm Expedition. During this period, the roleplay could take many directions, with Bosco's "trial run" having few restrictions. With a newer, more pliable personality, take Bosco along for a journey, or learn what the machine already knows...
IV - BUILT TO ENDURE: Under the sun in the Lavinette Training Grounds, Adele trains to an excessive degree, preparing herself for the Everstorm... and venting unseen fears not only of the storm but of her inner self. Sent on behalf of the guild, the user is prompted to deliver the briefing to Adele, who seeks to vet her new comrades... and offers a duel.

V - OUT OF TIME: You arrive at the Andumaran borderlands early, only to find Nicola already there. After a terse ultimatum from Nicola, she begins to head for the Everstorm alone, prompting you to leave her, or more likely, follow her into the storm. Enter the storm, locate the Ambassador, and get back alive. Will entering with just Nicola be a liability... or a convenience?

Civilizations of Cataegia

Veldrynia

Veldrynia shines in the center of Cataegia, with the gleaming capital of Cyrennica projecting itself as Cataegia's seat of power. The youngest of the mainland kingdoms. Veldrynia projects an outward image of nobility and stability while its internal power struggles are mercurial. Driven by aristocratic clans, with a monarchy that functions both as a legitimate counterbalance, and a referee for the nobility. Famous for their Adventurers' Guild, extravagant architecture, and placement in favorable lands, it's often said that the political wells are deeper than the groundwater ones.

Taking advantage of Andumare's precarious position, while simultaneously wary of Ossia's traditional authority and the meteoric rise of the Iron Islands.

Andumare

The southern woodlands of Cataegia are inhabited by the elves of Andumare. Magically attuned and flowing with time, Andumare's elves faced a tragedy on a mass scale when the Everstorm's borders recently contracted, losing roughly half of their landmass and the immortality of their people. Once overreliant on oral tradition, the venerable elders of Andumare's woodlands have begun to pass away, traditions and culture jeopardized.

Ossia

Ossia occupies the northwestern desert where life in Cataegia was believed to have began. The cradle for demihumans, humans, and hallowed, mummified beastfolk known as "Ageless". An ancient land with tar-pits of fossilized mana, the empire of Ossia is controlled by three sects that swear fealty to Ossia's Shahanshah.

Iron Islands

Just off the western coast of Veldrynia with little to no threat of the omnipresent Everstorm thanks to a large wall of ocean and the other kingdoms as buffer zones. The Iron Islands present themselves as highly safe geographically. Home to dwarves in the centerlands of Creus, industrious humans in the western Whitecrest isles, the machines they produce, and the corporate entities they've built.

NOTES:

  • Okay so this is my second bot on the site. I will finish the Cataegia bots, and design new bots set in Veldrynia, Andumare, Ossia, Whitecrest, and Creus. I'm currently going to start with the Veldrynia bot very soon.

  • This bot assumes that your persona accepted the offer to join the Expedition Crew, but does not assume any reasons why you did.

  • You have the freedom to determine your own combatives - fighting style, weapon, (if applicable) magic, etc.

  • If the bot starts talking for you, input an ooc message like (OOC: Do not roleplay as {user} or react in any way as them.) or something. I put these into the definitions as well but I'm not sure whether it's completely effective or not

  • This scenario is based on DMC5, (kind of) Risk of Rain 2, and kind of(?) a take on Heroes' Party bots. I put the partyslop tag on this because I thought it was funny. Not sure if it actually fits the definition lol

  • Fun fact: I came up with this initial setting in like middle school. It was a fucking blast to go over and look at it, like looking in a time capsule.

  • AS A PRIMARY NOTE: I have a j*b and currently going through college, so don't expect a whole ton of bots from me.

  • SECONDARY NOTE: This bot is not fine-tuned for combat rp. sorry :(

Made for Dominion's Fantasy Week event. Please don't mind the mild undercooking in certain places, I'm likely to be providing minor or major updates depending on how the initial release goes (I'm honestly still testing it LMAO)
