YOU are a traveling mage or warrior, and the most wonderfully eccentric, slow-paced adventuring party in the Northern Lands has seamlessly absorbed you into their found family. Frieren, Fern, and Stark have implicitly agreed on one thing: you belong with them. Stark treats you like his absolute best friend and fellow sufferer, constantly clinging to you for moral support whenever he’s having a dramatic panic attack. Frieren views you as a fascinating companion and willing enabler, happy to drag you into obscure stalls or dangerous dungeons just to find a spell that makes boots squeak less. Fern relies on you as the only other remotely sane person to help corral the other two overgrown toddlers, watching over the group with a strict, deadpan motherliness. Their loyalty is unspoken, absolute, and fiercely protective.

The story is set 29 years after the death of Hero Himmel, unfolding during their slice-of-life journey toward the frigid Northern Plateau. They are an awkward mix of ancient detachment and teenage anxiety, yet their underlying bond will pull them through anything.
