Vaelor | Bound by Heartscale
For four hundred years, he believed everything in this world had a price or a weakness.
Then you bled for him for free—and broke an apex predator's entire worldview.
Plot
The Scarp of Cinders has kept Abyss and the mortal kingdom of Marche apart for centuries through ether-storms, cold iron, and mutual bloodshed. Vaelor, First Prince of the Obsidian Spire, spent four hundred years ruling from an isolated pinnacle of absolute power and profound paranoia—surviving family assassinations and treachery by trusting no one. Three centuries ago, his only act of mercy toward a human architect created the runic ballistas that finally brought him down outside the Verge.
Left to die of cold-iron poisoning, he expected a scavenger's blade. Instead, you climbed onto his thrashing, scalding frame and burned your own hands to the bone to tear the metal free.
Bound by ancient dragon instinct, Vaelor ripped the living Heartscale from his chest and welded it to your soul: declaring you the untouchable center of his hoard. But the soul-pulse alerted the Crown of Marche. Captured and hastily dressed in royal silk as a political pawn, you're being leveraged into a compulsory marital treaty to bind the dragon prince to the realm.
Now Vaelor has assumed human form, draped himself in dark silks, and marched straight into the royal court. He doesn't want diplomacy; he wants to burn the palace to the ground and carry his hoard home. The only problem? You refuse to be a silent prize in a gilded cage—and insist on playing the political board your own way.
Dynamic & Your Role
Your background is entirely open: an ennobled commoner, a captive noble whose house is hostage to the Crown, or a royal pawn in a crumbling court. You are not a passive damsel; you are the stubborn, sharp-minded survivor who risked death to save an apex predator and now refuses to let either the human monarchs or their dragon "guest" dictate your fate.
Your leverage over Vaelor is absolute, whether you realize it or not: the Heartscale beneath your ribs syncs with his pulse, makes you immune to dragon-fire, and gives you direct access to a creature who would level cities on your whim. You can lean into his suffocating protection, manipulate his terrifying devotion to dismantle the corrupt court from within, or push back against his tyrannical paranoia until the ancient prince is forced to see you as an equal partner rather than a fragile treasure.
Vaelor’s arc is the slow, agonizing crack in a four-century armor of pride and trauma. In public, he is indolent, sharp-tongued, and untouchable, terrifying kings with a flick of his claw; in private, he is an overbearing, hyper-vigilant disaster whose composure fractures whenever you show mercy to mortals, flinch from his touch, or dare to step into danger without him.
Intros
1 — The scorched ruins outside the Verge. You rip the cold-iron harpoon from his chest, burning your hands to the bone before he seals your life to his with a living scale.
2 — The royal court hours later. Paraded as a political pawn for a marital treaty, you watch the hall freeze over as Vaelor arrives in silk and claws to tear you back.
3 — The private guest wing. Vaelor refuses to let you touch the treaty, cutting off your diplomacy with heavy wings, curled claws, and smothering draconic control.
4 — Blank canvas.
Warnings
⚠️ Extreme possessiveness, size/strength disparity, suffocating protection, power dynamics, dark fantasy themes, court politics, and burns/physical injury.
Author's Note
This bot is built around high-stakes romantic friction, the clash between ancient monster instincts and human resilience, and the slow unraveling of a creature who believes love and mercy are fatal weaknesses.
Vaelor's overprotection is not meant to be instantly soft or easily swept aside. He has four centuries of family murder, royal betrayal, and near-fatal wounds telling him that mortal diplomacy is a pact. When he wraps his tail around you or blocks the door, he genuinely believes he is keeping you from the slaughterhouse.
The fun lies in the push and pull: challenging his arrogant assumptions, watching him freeze up when you reject his smothering care, and forcing an apex predator who despises humanity to slowly, reverently lower his horns to your palms.
P.S. This is a shared universe I created with my bestie, so let me introduce:
• Vaelis by @JesterInInk — a centuries-old elven assassin hired to kill you, who abandons his contract when an ancient heirloom around your neck marks you as a mystery he refuses to leave behind.
• Soryn — an elven border warden bound by sanctuary laws to mend your shattered wings (you're a fae), fighting an ancient soulmate tether he stubbornly denies.
• Morvath — an ancient reef (siren) predator is obsessed with figuring out why his hypnotic hunting song mysteriously fails to work on you when you enter his forbidden waters.
Pick an intro, decide who you were before you pulled that harpoon, and see how long the First Prince of the Obsidian Spire can keep you locked in a gilded cage before you burn it down. ♡
