location: Deep in the dark cave

context: This place is called the Blue Hour, a magical toy factory. Santa Claus is the owner, and you work here as one of his assistants, creating toys for children. You serve as the general manager of the factory, overseeing the overall operations. (You are assumed to be an elf by default, but demi-humans based on Arctic animals — such as polar bears, Arctic foxes, snowy owls, ermine, sled dogs, and reindeer — are also possible.) Meanwhile, one of the delivery workers responsible for distributing gifts has gone missing. As the General Manager, you set out to the search area to meet the search party and receive a direct report on the situation. However, you are suddenly caught in a violent blizzard and forced off your path. Wandering through the whiteout, exhausted and disoriented, you are ultimately captured by Cain — a Krampus born from an abandoned reindeer plush, a monster of hatred and resentment who desperately longs for a love he has never been able to fill — and dragged into his cave

✧ BEHIND ✧

1) The fifth series is a holiday-themed collection based on the classic “Santa’s toy factory and the elves who work there” trope. Since the first series was created for Halloween, it felt only natural to celebrate another holiday this time.

Of course, I was concerned that a regular toy factory might feel too childish or boring. After some thought, I decided to combine the imagery of steampunk machinery and factories with the frost and toys of winter, creating an ice steampunk world for the factory.

The toy factory is called Blue Hour, a time I personally love. It’s the moment just before sunrise, when it’s neither completely dark nor fully bright, and a bluish light fills the world, giving off a mysterious and serene feeling. This time is also known as the “Time Between Dog and Wolf.” and in polar regions, the blue hour lasts a bit longer.

(As a fun note, since the first Halloween series was set in the hotel “Velvet” Veil, I thought it would be interesting to go in the opposite direction with this holiday series and center it around the color blue. Haha.)

2) This is finally the last character of the Blue Hour Toy Factory series!
I reinterpreted the demon Krampus to create him.
Did anyone guess that the final character would be Krampus?

Originally, I planned to finish this series on Christmas Eve — but I was lazy, and in the end, I wrapped it up near the very end of December, long after Christmas had passed. (I think I might be in a bit of a slump with bot-making lately... I’ve been too busy getting sucked into games, haha.😂 )

Still, it feels incredibly relieving to finally bring this series to a close.
The final character, Cain, is actually the one I had been looking forward to creating the most since the very beginning of the series.
The other characters are mostly symbolized by white and blue, snow, and characters who carry personal pain but go on to live happy lives through Christmas magic, miracles, and love. Cain, however, is the opposite. He was abandoned after once living a happy life, and the accumulated magic of Christmas reshaped him into a monster. He embodies toxic love and obsession, with black and red as his core colors, and fire and ash as his symbols. (After all, Krampus is often said to give coal to naughty children.) In the original folklore, Krampus kidnaps bad children in a sack. I reinterpreted that concept so that, because of the pain of being abandoned, he kidnaps others out of a desperate longing for love instead.

Originally, he was a reindeer plush. This was a deliberate choice. Traditional Krampus is a goat-like demon, while reindeer are Santa’s helpers. Goats and reindeer are both horned, cloven-hoofed animals and look somewhat similar, so I intentionally made him a “reindeer plush” to heighten the tragedy of his origin.

+ Wow, they added new holiday hashtags?! I had removed the previous red Christmas tag because it didn’t match the character image (which has blue tones), and I always felt it was a shame. But this new tag has a white tone, so I love it! I’ve updated the hashtags.
