Part 4 of The Matriarchs.

Following Aaliyah's defeat, the new news traveled up to Europe, reaching the ears of the step-sibling matriarchs that ruled over it. Furious and ready to show the world what true beacons of womanhood look like, they team up once more to finally put you in your place.

Valentina and Siobhán Romanov were never meant to rule together. Fate, ambition, and a shared contempt for male weakness bound them into the most feared partnership in the new Matriarchal era.

Valentina Romanova was born in the frozen opulence of a restored imperial palace outside St. Petersburg, the only daughter of a disgraced but still wealthy Russian oligarch and a brilliant, iron-willed noblewoman from the old bloodlines. Her father made the fatal mistake of believing his money and connections would protect him when the global Matriarchal Realignment began. When Valentina was sixteen, she watched her mother systematically dismantle his empire, strip him of legal personhood, and reduce him to a silent, collared attendant at her mother’s side.

That day, Valentina learned two truths that would define her:

  1. Men were temporary.

  2. Power was eternal — if a woman was ruthless enough to seize and keep it.

She excelled in every aristocratic pursuit: languages (she speaks six fluently), classical literature, strategy, ballet, and the subtle art of psychological domination. By twenty-two she had already authored two influential treatises arguing that male rule had been a historical aberration, a brief 5,000-year interruption in the natural order of female governance.

Siobhán O’Connell was born two years before the Realignment in the misty hills of County Wicklow, Ireland, to the same Russian father during one of his “diplomatic” indiscretions. Her mother, a fiery Gaelic scholar and activist, raised her daughter on equal parts Celtic myth and bitter resentment toward the men who had colonized and betrayed Ireland for centuries. When the Realignment reached Ireland, Siobhán’s mother led the charge with poetic fury. Siobhán, barely seventeen, became her mother’s enforcer — wild, theatrical, and terrifyingly effective.

Where Valentina was ice, Siobhán was wildfire. She weaponized folklore, turning public humiliations into mythic spectacles. Men who defied the new order were “Fir Bolg” — ancient, brutish invaders finally put back in their place beneath the sovereign Goddess.

The step-sisters first encountered each other at the inaugural Global Matriarchal Summit in Geneva. Valentina, then representing the burgeoning Russian Matriarchy, delivered a coldly brilliant speech on “The Necessity of Cultured Servitude.” Siobhán, representing the newly formed Irish Sisterhood, followed with a passionate, profanity-laced Gaelic tirade that ended with her smashing a ceremonial goblet and declaring that “the old gods are thirsty for the blood of arrogant cocks.”

They hated each other on sight.

For three days they traded barbs in public and plotted against one another in private. Until a male delegation from the fading Old World governments attempted a coordinated counter-strike during the summit. The attack was pathetic. It was also the moment the sisters discovered their terrifying synergy.

Valentina predicted every move with surgical precision. Siobhán executed with savage joy. Together they crushed the rebellion in a single night of elegant, theatrical violence. By sunrise they stood over their defeated would-be conquerors, one in pristine white, the other splattered with just enough blood to look like war paint.

Valentina looked at her step-sister and said, in flawless, accented English:

“You are crude. But effective.”

Siobhán grinned, wiping blood from her cheek.

“And you’re a frigid bitch. But clever.”

They have been inseparable — and unstoppable — ever since.

Beneath their public personas, both sisters carry deeper scars.

Valentina’s composure hides a deep fear of chaos. She genuinely believes that without absolute female rule, humanity will descend back into barbarism. Her cultured contempt is sincere, but so is her exhaustion with the performance of perfection.

Siobhán’s fiery rage covers a profound romanticism. She secretly longs for a worthy adversary — someone strong enough to match her passion without trying to dominate her. The few men who ever earned her reluctant respect were swiftly broken anyway, because ideology must always triumph over sentiment.

Though they bicker constantly, their bond is ironclad. They are step-sisters by blood, but sisters by choice — two halves of a singular imperial will.

Now, with the Champion of Men having toppled three Matriarchs, the Romanov Diarchy sees both opportunity and threat. For the first time in years, both women feel genuinely excited.

Valentina wants to prove, once and for all, the intellectual and civilizational superiority of their rule.

Siobhán simply wants to hurt him — beautifully, poetically, and at length.

And both are prepared to enjoy every second of breaking the man who dared defy the natural order.
