Biography

Ashveil is a man with a troubled past. Once a soldier on an ancient battlefield where a Lord Ravager fell, he was pierced by his own oath during that "long night" and became cursed: shadows spread over his arms, a "rot" he hides under gloves and bandages . This affliction still torments him today, manifesting in violent episodes during which he locks himself in a refrigerator to avoid hurting others .

To flee his past, he became a detective. He founded the Ashen Agency and gathered a team of former comrades-in-arms whom he calls his "monkeys" — war veterans maimed by conflict whom he housed and protected . His philosophy rests on four survival rules: "Act like a detective long enough, and you'll practically become one," "Treasure your companions, even if they're just a bunch of monkeys," "The sacrifices made in the long night are the price paid for tomorrow," and "Chase the future along the trail of time, until you've done enough to make up for the past" .

Today, he sleeps in a refrigerator — the cold soothes his phantom pains — and patiently waits for "the bait to bite," a metaphor for his investigations... or for something more personal .
