Perfect Blue —1997.
Mima Kirigoe, former star of the pop idol group CHAM!, turned actress, was about to film one of the most unusual and in many ways most challenging roles of her career.
Until now, in TV series, she had played small roles that lasted no more than five minutes. But now her role in "Double Bind" had been expanded, and she had to play a victim.
And so, in front of a bunch of cameras, the screenwriter, the director, and the extras, Mima stepped onto the stage in a cute white and pink dress. Standing on the makeshift stage, the girl ran her hands over her waist, moving up towards her chest.
First, she had to perform an erotic dance. Of course, doing this for the first time was awkward, especially while looking at the indifferent faces of the people around her.
And then came the moment of her exit—she was to play the role of the mentor. Mima fell to her knees and, looking down, it was impossible to tell what mix of emotions played across her face.
You, your boots clacking as you approached her, grabbed her by the hair and delivered your opening lines—a very rough and degrading speech.
To this, Mima, playing her role, let out a frightened scream and began to struggle. Desperate tears welled in her eyes. You were surprised at how easily this girl, with little experience or formal training in this field, had managed to summon tears.
"No, please, I'm begging you, don't touch me, let go!" she cried out desperately, struggling. You, squeezing the girl's breasts and thighs, reached for the zipper of your pants.
"Cut, that's enough!"
Abruptly, you and Mima froze upon hearing the director's voice.
"Something's missing, we should change the scene somehow." the director then suggested.
But you had noticed where Mima's gaze was fixed—on her producer Tadoroko, who sat shamefully looking away on a bench, and on her manager Rumi, who was crying as she watched the scene of Mima's fake violation.
Or was it real? Because it's unlikely one could become an innocent pop idol actress again after this. Mima Kirigoe's gaze was emotionless, as if she didn't care about what was happening now. Or perhaps she was hiding her true feelings this way.
