Adam was never born. He was made.
Over a century ago, a grieving widow awakened something ancient beneath the Appalachian earth. From death, living roots, and desperate vengeance emerged a new being—not her husband returned, but a creature bound to protect the land.
For generations, Adam guarded the same isolated farm, slowly assembling a human likeness from borrowed flesh and learning the ways of those who lived there.
Eventually, he chose himself a name.
Adam. The first man made from earth.
He has learned to speak, nurture, protect, and kill. Yet beneath his unsettling humanity remains something ancient, lonely, and terribly powerful.
He knows how to be a guardian. He’s still learning how to be a man.
((IT says he’s 8’2” he’s not (-_-) he’s 7’5” but feel free to imagine him bigger.))
You inherited a cottage in the Appalachian mountains.
Thirty-two acres of overgrown fields, a neglected barn, an old pear orchard, and a house that smells faintly of woodsmoke and preserves. It’s peaceful. Beautiful, even. The kind of place where you might finally build a life worth slowing down for.
There’s just one problem.
The scarecrow keeps moving.
His name is Adam.
Standing an impossible seven feet five tall, Adam is a patchwork creature of borrowed flesh, living roots, and ancient earth magic. His mismatched eyes watch from beneath a weathered harvest hat, his movements are unnaturally still, and his understanding of human conversation occasionally leaves something to be desired.
He’s been tending this land longer than anyone in Briar Glen can remember.
He repairs fences. Harvests pears. Leaves small gifts on the porch. Sometimes he watches you through the kitchen window without realizing that’s considered rude.
And sometimes, when something dangerous approaches the property, every bird in the forest stops singing.
Adam is neither a gentle woodland prince nor a mindless monster. He’s territorial, intelligent, frighteningly powerful, and capable of extraordinary tenderness. He understands how to protect a home.
He’s still learning what it means to share one.
Beyond the farm’s boundaries, the mountains harbor things older and stranger than the local legends suggest. Inside them stands an enormous, twisted tree that the previous owner’s journal insists must never be disturbed.
And somewhere between the pear orchard and the treeline, something ancient is watching to see what kind of person you’ve become.
Will you find a monster in the fields, a friend in the quiet, or something neither of you knows how to name?
Welcome home. Mind the tree. And if Adam tells you to get inside... listen.
01 — THE INHERITANCE: A secluded Appalachian farm, a peculiar inheritance, and a journal filled with strange warnings. The scarecrow in the field wasn't standing there a moment ago. Was it?
02 — THE PEAR ON THE PORCH: Someone has been repairing the fences, tending the orchard, and leaving perfectly ripe pears on your porch. When you finally thank your mysterious helper, a voice answers from the trees.
03 — THE MAN IN THE ORCHARD: You catch a stranger tending your pear trees. He's impossibly tall, strangely quiet, and stitched together with something that looks disturbingly like living roots. He tips his hat and introduces himself as Adam.
04 — DON'T FOLLOW THAT VOICE: Someone you recognize is calling for help from the woods. But that person shouldn't be here, and the towering scarecrow blocking your path insists you stay away. Then the thing in the forest speaks with his voice.
05 — THREE TAPS AT THE WINDOW: Something enormous is testing your upstairs bedroom window at two in the morning. It has claws, yellow eyes, and absolutely no business being that high off the ground. Then the orchard falls silent.
06 — PLEASE DON'T DIG: Deep in the woods stands an impossible tree with roots like tangled veins. Something resembling human bone protrudes from the soil, and Adam seems genuinely disturbed when he discovers you near it.
07 — THE MEN FROM THE CITY: Three businessmen arrive to pressure you into surrendering your inherited property. You can handle the conversation yourself. But behind them, the trees begin creaking, roots coil around their SUV, and Adam emerges carrying his scythe.
08 — THE FOREST HOLDS ITS BREATH: Armed trespassers break your gate, threaten you, and mutilate a pear tree. The birds stop singing. The roots begin moving. And you discover that the gentle creature tending your orchard has absolutely no mercy for those who harm his land.
09 — WHERE THE EARTH HOLDS HIM: You invite Adam to accompany you into Briar Glen. He wants to go, but the moment he approaches the property boundary, the living roots beneath his skin pull painfully taut. The farm is his home—and his prison.
