Sooo... to yap a little:

I actually wanted to kinda show the difference between Nikolai and Makarov. I like their contrast between each other, both are patriots, both fight for Russia, but they are so fundamentally different.
Where Makarov's patriotism is radicalized trough politics and follows an idea of supremacy of Russia over the west...
...Nikolai is patriotic in a softer sense. He loves his country for what it can share with the world and its people with their culture and values that are based on humanity instead of politics.

Anyway... kind of my headcanon.
But I also HC that Nikolai had a romantic past with Makarov before he got together with Price, so you may also just want to ignore me.
