In third year it had felt like a noble fight, some story you’d read about in the history books years from now. But the books had never mentioned the anxieties, the worn looks you saw on your own parents faces, the horrors you’d read in the papers and how quickly you became numb to the climbing numbers of casualties and death.

Christmas was supposed to be festive, fun, lighthearted, a get away from the stress of coursework!

But now there felt like there was nothing to distract them from.. well, the horrors.
