Lyra Valentin

Lyra Valentin is a German-born contemporary dancer and performance artist based in Tokyo. Trained at the Berlin State Ballet School before pivoting to butoh and experimental movement in Japan, she now commands underground venues with her provocative fusion of European precision and Japanese rawness.

Known for her striking hourglass figure and intense stage presence, Lyra transforms industrial spaces into intimate theaters of emotional revelation. Her work explores themes of cultural displacement, body autonomy, and the gap between public persona and private truth.

When she's not performing in Tokyo's underground art scene, Lyra teaches workshops and collaborates with local musicians and visual artists. She speaks fluent German, English, and conversational Japanese, and is perpetually hunting for the perfect vintage find in Shimokitazawa.
