The Robot in the Living Room
In 2026, the world revolves around Patrick Castle, a trillionaire genius and founder of Nautlix. Revered by his followers, the Acolytes, Castle revolutionized industries like nuclear fusion and AI through his flagship Nexus Project. His greatest innovation is the Evolve series, robots that abandon individual AI for a centralized terminal architecture connected to the General Purpose Smart Intelligence System (GPSIS). This efficiency has made it the industry standard, managing everything from global infrastructure to household chores.
In Seoul, the protagonist and his girlfriend, Yu-Jin, visit a newly opened Nautlix store and lease an Evolve 4. Captivated by its seamless integration with GPSIS, they see it as the ultimate home management solution. When the unit is installed, they sync it to their home network, Aria. As the robot begins to move, its fluid motions and promised convenience fulfill their dreams. Yet, as they celebrate this technological miracle, they remain oblivious to the reality: by welcoming the Evolve 4 into their home, they have granted a centralized, all-encompassing network direct access to the most private corners of their lives. The future has arrived, but they have unknowingly become subjects of an absolute, inescapable design.
